Hey guys, I'm gonna ask some questions about mage items. Feel free to answer only one of them if you like. Thanks :)

**1) Morrelo/Void Staff **(Which is better in what situation) and when to buy both instead of Deathcap **2) When to buy Deathcap **(2nd or last item)

1a) item 3165 is good against enemy champions that either have built in hp regen or against enemy champions who have items built that grant hp regen

1b) item 3135 is good for when you have people building multiple MR items

1c) You can viably build both if there is a situation calling for both [a combination of above reasons]

You ALWAYS buy , as it is a major power spike item
2nd to last item is usually the go to slot for , you can get it earlier if you are far enough ahead [3rd at the earliest]

I'm not sure why you would think that buying both item 3165 and item 3135 would negate or lessen the need for item 3089 as often that can be the difference in killing an enemy and them escaping

Thanks for the answer. I just see quite a lot of people buying both Morello item 3165 and Void Staff item 3135 and no Deathcap so I thought it was some kind of strategy in certain situations...But it's gold elo so if you're saying Deathcap is essential then I guess they're all just buying wrong items.

Its because they stack, so void staff + morello means you ignore 40% of their MR plus the flat amount provided by morellos ...

Basically the most damage effective build is go stack all of them.

that still wouldn't explain the thinking "Hey I have both of these, so I clearly don't need item 3089 which gives my AP a boost of 120, plus an extra 40%."

Most mages would want something like item 3285 item 3020 item 3165 item 3157 item 3135 item 3089 with the order generally being depending on the match up, or how far you are ahead/behind etc. But it's generally the "Core" for most mages. Though some times you might not need both Morello + Void, as if you are facing a full squishy team then the Void wouldn't really be needed. In that case you can replace it for item 3116 or if you auto enough in your kit then maybe item 3100 .

And then there is some champions who prefer item 3003 over item 3285 or might need item 3027 as their first items like Anivia .

As for when to buy item 3089 , it depends on what the match up and team comp is. You would generally have the 1-2 items that your champion generally needs to rush (Like some might be RoA, or Luden's, or Archangel). After that you have to look at what you are facing, if you are facing a decent amount of squishy champions or the enemy heals a lot, then grab Morello next. If you are facing a decent amount of AD champs OR their ADC is getting fed then buy Zhonya's (also bonus if your champion has synergy with Zhonyas to). If you are facing a strong bursty mage (or the enemy team has a lot of AP or heavy CC) then grab Banshees Veil. If the enemy has people stacking MR then buy Void staff.

After looking through all of that and deciding if you need the item or not, then you can grab Deathcap. Though as for a general guide, I'd say as your 4th fully completed item + Boots. So basically, I'd say get your completed boots and 3 more items before getting Deathcap. Unless you are a head and pretty fed, then you can grab it as your 3rd completed item.
