Riot's Rank grinding is pretty bullshit

Some people say it is based off on luck, some others say it is based on you carrying your games, or a combination of both. I say it is based on draining tons of time into the game... lot's of time that is spent grinding, not necessarily to gain the experience you need to be in X rank or tier, but time to actually get the official "medal". Kindly read my comments and then share your opinion:

Let's take the example of a guy who got placed in Silver 5, with a 50% win rate. Each victory would give around 20 LP and each defeat would take around 18, let's say 20 for simplicity. You need 100 LP to reach the promos. That means you have to win 5 games, but since you have a 50% win-rate, you will have to play at least 10 games to get 100 LP.

Once you have 100 LP, you get the right of having to win 2 more games out of 3. Since you have 50% win rate, let's assume you win 1 and lose 2 in the promos. This would mean you have played 3 games and lost 40 LP, you're back now at 60 LP.

To gain back the 100, it would require you to win 2 games, so you'd have to play at least 4 games to get 100 LP back. We have played 17 games so far, and we are finally back in promos. Now thanks to the free win we get if we've been in promos before, we only have to win 1 game. Given our win rate, we have to play at least 2 games, but given our win rate let's say we end up playing the 3 games in promos. that is 20 games so far. We finally get promoted to Silver IV.

It took us 20 games to get promoted to S4, now imagine we go all the way to 100 LP again (+10 games) then we lose our promos (+3 games), then we go on a losing streak all the way back to 0 LP (+3 games, cuz we lost the promos). Then we go all the way up to 100 LP (+10 games) and finally win our promos (+3 games). We have played 46 games to reach S3. Each game averages 40 min time, so it translates into 46 * 40 mins = 1840 mins = roughly 30 hours.

Let's say you only have the chance of playing 2 hours per day, it would take you 2 weeks just to advance ONE TIER, which means it would take you 2 months and 1 week to be ready to promote for the next rank.

I don't have a suggestion on how to fix this kind of thing, however I believe part of the solution could be to NOT FREEZE the LP gain during promotion series. That means if you fucking win 1 match and lose 2, then it would count as if you only lost 1 match worth of LP, instead of 2, thus removing the need of playing at least 4 games to gain the right to be in promos again. And if you win your 2 promos, then translate that into 1 victory on the next tier (only between tiers, not Ranks). In any case your skill doesn't match the tier, you would get demoted anyway since your win% would decrease from 50%.

Let me know what you think, or if you have any suggestions, etc.

Wrong. I've been a silver shitter for years. This season, however, I actively sought to get better. Went 7W-3L in my placements and got Silver 5. Now I'm sitting in Silver 1 rapidly on my way to Gold with a 70% overall win rate and a MMR in high Gold.

You arent climbing because you dont deserve it. You're the same rank as me yet my MMR is over 200 higher than yours. Maybe try to get better instead n complaining about how there is nothing you can do. We all get afks on our team. We all get a 0/10/0 bot lane. Deal with it.

What a crock of shit. Can you explain to me exactly why the hell someone deserves to climb when they lose as many games as they win? Isn't that a good indicator that they're exactly where they should be?

Can you explain to be why you should climb when you actually lose more games than you win? Isnt that a pretty good indicator that you actually deserve to be a lower division? Lmao

its not based off of luck but it is pretty damn time consuming
