How do you play Evelynn nowadays?

Whenever I play Evelynn I can't help but feel outclassed by everyone. I seem to not be able to deal much damage, my CC is only single target and easily avoided due to so many indicators, I'm too squishy to teamfight and my only reliable escape is my ultimate which seems to be on quite a lengthy cooldown.

How does one Evelynn?

Frankly I wouldn't evelynn.

If you want CC, there are better options for a jungler. If you want AP damage, there are better options for a jungler. If you want a ganker, there are better options for a jungler. If you want an assassin, there are better options for a jungler.

I feel like riot put too many things into evelynn and together they are preventing her good at anything because of the counterplay all those things require. IMO Elise does everything evelynn does except for stealth and she does it better with a higher skill ceiling.

You spam taunt. Her new taunts are sexy af. Not even worth actually playing the game, just spam those sexy taunts.

I didn't play Eve at all before this patch, so my perception of her strengths might be a little off, but I've been playing her a lot this patch with success so here's what I've learned.

Earlygame is a little rough, and it can be tempting to just farm for 6, but early ganks are important to establishing a lead and making sure your laners don't fall too far behind. Generally top lane is the easiest to gank, so I always start on the bot-side buff and aim to hit top after finishing the second buff. Early ganks are pretty simple, just W the enemy and pop with Q. If you land it and your laner follows up, it should be a kill. You should try to gank lanes that are pushed up so they can't get back to their turret in time for the W.

Post-6, ganks become a lot more interesting. You should try to come up behind enemies using your stealth, so that when your laners engage they will naturally walk towards you. Remember that its not always worthwhile to use your W, as sometimes using it just announces that you're coming. When you do use it, remember that it doesn't actually reveal you, it only reveals the direction you are coming from, and it only does so right when its ready to pop. What that means is that the reveal doesn't matter at all if you are already in Q range when its ready.

Later on in the game, your W and to a lesser extent your Q stop becoming crucial to kill targets, as you should have Protobelt, Lich Bane, and Runic which combined with your E and Dark Harvest will often be good enough to take a target to 30%. Your goal as far as teamfights are concern is to flank and Protobelt E R a priority target. Hopefully your teammates are doing enough that your opponents can't hope to chase you after you R, and you can then reengage to help clean up. This is where W becomes really useful again, as it'll soften up a tank for you to chunk with your E.

I hope some of this helps. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
