Question about queue.

I'm new to this game and recently got enough champions to start doing the draft mode instead of blind pick. I've been putting top as primary and support as secondary. I assumed that I'd be getting top lane more since I set it as primary. Though, I've gotten top only 3/10 times. Is this because support is not a popular role? I don't mind playing the support role for the most part, I'm just curious about how this whole system works.

Edit: I just got into queue and got support again =P

Support is the least desired role so that's what you're going to get more often that not. That's why queue times are really long right now if you don't choose support/fill.
