I recently started playing league and trying to stay positive.

My friend recommended this game to me and so I started a week back or so. He gave me some advice such as keeping the chat muted at all times. I didn't think anything of it to be honest. Just started getting into normal games and I realized what he meant by muting the chat. It's quite disappointing to see how people interact with each other here. There are a number of rude people I've encountered already and if they're not blatantly rude, they're being very passive-aggressive about it. Even though none of it has been directed at me, it's still upsetting. Trying to stay positive about this. I have also met a number of friendly people who have given me plenty of tips on how to play which was very nice =). Hopefully it won't be like this the entire time I'm playing this.

Sometimes I think people forget they are actually talking to another person =/

oh when you play ranked it gets worse. i mean look you + 4 RANDOMS have to play AS A TEAM like thats really hard. even some pro players said on their stream "in soloQ all you can do is get better and hope the retards are on the other side of the map" so yea some ppl (who dont have much in their life) get angry. muting everyone and playing with friends is what kept me going in this game for so long. im not the guy who likes to play with friends i prefer soloplay but without some good friends i would have quit LoL years ago!

Welcome! Yes, a fair amount of the community has these issues, but as you pointed out, there's the flipside, where a lot of nice/friendly people play. Biggest thing is remaining positive in spite of the negative ones. It honestly can be difficult, but letting others suck the fun out of the game for you is not worth it.

I've found engaging both teams at the start in a positive manner helps a lot. Whether it's a joke, complimenting someone's skin or a simple "GL HF", it gets people's thoughts in a more positive place. More importantly, it gets my head in the right place.

Good luck out there, and don't let the cranky ones keep you down. Good luck and have fun. :)

I enjoy helping new or low level players enjoy a bot match or two, if you have time to run some I'm on for a few hours a day, usually. I'm no double deluxe diamond pretty platinum princess but I've been here since the beta so I can help you hammer out the fundamentals or just enjoy a chill bot match.

There unfortunately will always be trolls and jerks on the internet. I've leveled multiple accounts, and I will say, things are particularly bad when you first start. People have some crazy expectation that you're going to know how to play, even though everyone in the game is just starting, and usually just as inexperienced. People also aren't as invested at that point, so they don't care if something happens to their account. Things get better, but you're never going to completely get away from it.
