You can probably put Sion right here. -->
######Unless you're talking about lanes. You can really play him anywhere except maybe ADC, but usually he's played top and support.

^ Sion is top or support generally.
I do wonder how well he'd do as a Mid laner. His kit seems weak to ganks, but since he can be built as a Tank perhaps he can be placed Mid so Top can go full damage?

AP mid can work. His E is very deadly. Lethality sion can also work pretty well.
But those are generally cheese builds for a reason.
What if he were to build AP Tank with max CDR and anti-CC? Like
?
Sup, or top normally.
Jungle if feeling feisty.
AP Hadoken Sion Mid if you feel expermentity
Normally you'd put him up Top. However, due to his Q and E (and R occasionally) he's a capable Support. Pair him with Kalista ADC. You'll thank me later ;)
Kalista just screams 'off-meta duo tank' to me. The sheer potential of her R on old Galio ult. Ooh... man, those days gone by.
Well the reason I say Kalista ADC with Sion Support is because of this.
Thank you so much guys!

.... I honestly want to be tilted after reading that.
But yeah. Sion is mainly top, and has powerful potential in support (more than his jungle).
Really? I'm playing a lot of Support lately, and I mostly play Sion in Jungle. (Top, Garen is still my go-to.)
If Sion Support is actually better than Sion Jungle, I need to give it a try!
I'm not sure if it's better. I honestly haven't really tried non primary junglers in the jungle for a long time.
Mainly because I have to compete with gank speed. And that Warwick is fun.
I think Sion may be good jungle, but still trying him out. would AD or AP be better and whatnot. Because it's really easy to avoid his 1 and 4. you pretty much have too little killing potential in my eyes. I figured out most of the other champions, but sion really got me stuck. He feels more like a specialist where he's okay in most lanes, but doesn't shine in a specific one. I think Jungle and Support might be better for sion as brush makes it impossible to guess where his 1 lands. He feels more like helping to set up kills rather than killing people himself.
Sion is more of a tank that's better at planning and predicting than reacting.
The only AD you need for Sion in the jungle is in runes.
isn't planning and predicting a basic skill in all games? Ik there's a bit more of a higher requirement because of all the mechanisms, but I don't really feel that vanguards are really good laners. I think they're terrific junglers though because of all the CC and tanking potential, and hey stealing the enemy junglers buffs.
Sion can work in the lane with his E max.
And how do you consider Cho'gath a vanguard?
the Q, high CC and low CD, is a great initiate and W keeps people from using their abilities when they're low you can just execute with your R. The Ulti also gives you more health (insane amount), making you tankier and bigger, meaning you can cover for your squishies just by being huge. E also helps push waves to take down objectives, spreading CC or damage (Rylai's and Liandry's), and it's a great way to start a team fight, because the enemy has to defend now.
My question is how do you initiate with Sion? his E slows but his Q can't kill, his R is easy to avoid, his shield is quiet nice actually, if you manage to land Q first. Sion's damage has way too much casting time and too little damage, compared to other casters. If the enemy is low they just run away and Sion can't keep on them. The only valid start i found is E>Q>W (Cast w in the Q) or QW in a bush. E is great in team fights but it's really single target. R well only valid in the jungle or in the river.
You get good at using his R.
