@Meddler Can we talk about First tower?
First tower has been in the game for a bit now and IMO needs to be removed. There are so many snowball objectives in the game and this one is by far the worst. Its a massive global gold influx for the team getting it and it's way to soon. First blood on the other hand is only given to the killer. First blood highly rewards or punishes risky early game plays. First tower on the other hand punishes play making. If you are top lane or mid lane and you have a really bad matchup and are unable to fight your lane, you used to be able to roam and try to make a play. Now with first tower you are forced to be completely worthless because you can't do anything in lane, but you can't leave or you will lose first tower and massively reduce your teams chance or winning(not to mention what it does to you in a lane you were already struggling in). First tower provides nothing but negatives to the game(unless you consider having the game decided at 12 min a positive).
- it reduces options that players have, by confining them to their lanes.
- it gives the first tower team WAY too much of an advantage WAY to early in the game.
- it's a reward for a reward. that is to say you already a ton of advatages for taking towers(map pressure, gold, and getting closer to the nexus), you HAVE to take towers anyway. it's a huge part of the game. having a "here! you get a super reward for doing that thing that you're gonna do anyway" is just bad design IMO.
- it proxy counters other lanes that are doing well. before, you had to actively do something with your lead to help you're team, by roaming etc. now you just push lane and take tower and viola! "there you go team! i don't even have to leave me lane and now you're ahead."
- last point is pretty much the same as point 2. but it starts a crazy snowball into other snowball objectives(herald, more tower etc) and it makes it WAY to hard to come back. it takes out the tug of war gameplay where power swings between the teams.
And that's how i see it. what do you guys think. i haven't seen anyone talking about this and wanted to start a discussion.
