Urgot Discussion
I have recently bought Urgot because I wanted to see what makes arguably the most unpopular champion so underplayed.
To be frank, I found him to be incredibly fun. I know he is not very competitive in terms of the meta but he is undeniably fun to play for me.
Firstly, unlike the old Sion, Urgot's abilities largely synchronize very well with his Acid Hunter (Q). His passive, W, and E all help towards maximizing the potential of Acid Hunter. Not to mention each Acid Hunter does an incredible amount of damage early game because it scales with total AD.
I personally think Urgot is designed to be a lane bully and I find that he is somewhat of a duelist. I can see him work in the top lane as an offtank bruiser, and mid and ADC as a damage carry. Of course, his ult is perhaps the most awkward part of his kit. Unless you build him as some kind of bruiser, I don't think his ult works very well in relation to the rest of his kit. I picture Urgot as mostly an ADC who sits in the back and deals a lot of damage, because his Q with lock-on has an amazing 1200 range.
If I were to make a prediction, I don't think Riot's rework of Urgot will change too much (like the Tristana gameplay update). I find his kit to actually be very well synchronized, aside from his ult, and he offers quite an unique playstyle.
Suggestion: What if Riot gave Urgot 500 AA range? I find it strange that Urgot has 425 range because even lane bully ADCs like Lucian, Graves, and Sivir all have 500 range. What if E + Q gave bonus movement speed? I have never played Urgot when he was considered OP so I would appreciate if someone can offer me some context to that.
Also, I think his ult should be changed so that Urgot will fire a skillshot AoE missile towards an enemy champion, dealing damage, rooting them, and automatically applying his E to all targets nearby. If it hits, Urgot's Acid Hunter will become AoE for a short time apply a poison debuff that scales off of his attack damage.
TL;DR: I think Urgot's kit is actually good (thematically speaking) because his passive, W, and E all help towards his Acid Hunter in one way or another. Urgot is an incredibly fun champion, but I agree he is far from being competitive. I do think his ult makes no sense in terms of the theme of Urgot. What if Riot gave Urgot 500 base range instead? Would that make him too oppressive?
