Please don't kill me but, what exactly is wrong with league right now?

Honestly as someone who loves this game I've got to ask, what exactly is wrong with league right now? The game feels fine, sure I think the jungle is a bit too hard right now and stuff, but overall I feel as if the game is actually pretty good right now. Sure tanks are currently an issue, but we have lethality right now. Utility marksmen are really strong right now and hard carry ADC's are pretty weak but, well we expected that when the assassins were getting there changes which I think for the most part did what they set out to do. I mean as a Rengar main I've done not only better with this new Rengar, but other people seem slightly less pissed off when I go nuts and start killing everyone. I have to get fed in order to one shot people out of my ultimate, and if your smart you can really take advantage of the advanced notification that Rengar is more likely than not on his way to you thanks to the indicator over your head,

Honestly I think we're just focusing on the negative. There are honestly some things that need to be changed, like lethality is a tad bit strong right now (okay, really strong) and the jungle being far too punishing to non top tier junglers, but overall League is in a good state.

Honestly I've never noticed the game ends too quickly thing. Sure games can end quickly and I've had my share of omg wtf happened its 20 min in and they are at our nexus but I've also had the long drawn out games that I both dread and love to have. I think its a case of games are ending quicker thanks to the more snowbally meta we are in when a team is able to get far ahead, but this is still a small amount of games. However, its ending quick enough that people are complaining about it.

As a jungle main I actually enjoy those 3-4 man parties down bot lane as often times they end up being really fun and exciting engages where its often deciding who gets the drake or not, along with a tower. But I can see how it can be frusturating to the bot lane who just wants to farm and stuff.

This so much.

I tend to main late game scaling champs and I find myself struggling hard this season because of it. Games end very quickly this season. You almost never get a chance to reach that mid to late game fantasy powerspike. It's extremely common now to lose a tower on your 1st death. It happens most often at bot lane. The first one to die 90% of the time loses their tower and the enemy bot laners are free to roam and ransack other lanes. In previous seasons, it took a lot more time to take down the first tower.

This might come off a bit harsh.

  • Mobility creep is still bad and getting worse.

  • The ever-increasing power creep has increased snowballing and reduced game times.

  • Keystones are still ruining the balance of the game.

  • Botched reworks go unnoticed to Riot.

  • The balance team still plays favorites.

  • League's "problem children" go unpunished.

  • The ladder is fucked.

  • The devs continue to make changes purely for the sake of change including but not limited to: ruining the jungle every season, item additions anyone could see would be problematic, heavy-handed nerfs to random champions and light taps to overpowered and / or overplayed champions,....plants, etc.

  • And Riot's continued worship of the spectator event - to the point that they're under this delusion that despite constant radical changes for no logical reason, they honestly believe that League will be a global sport on the level of basketball and baseball...which don't have radical changes every 6 months to "keep things fresh" over the game itself and the normal people like us who play it is what's wrong with League.

Excellent list, but if i could add two more things: --Innacurate visual matching to hitboxes --Interactions and glitches that should not have made it out of QA or PBE

Good list.

I'm going to add one other point:

Some Rioters like to talk about their goals and values for the game, and those discussion sound really great on paper, but it feels like they aren't actually followed by the people who are working on the game.

For example, one of Riot's founding goals was for League to be a curated game where players' pain points are addressed quickly, and yet we still have some of the exact same pain points and "problem children" year in, year out. They are never addressed and Rioters usually refuse to even acknowledge they are a problem. Another example is how champions are designed directly contradicting Riot's own stated design values, and no one at Riot bats an eye.

Even when they do eventually solve one of these large problems, it tends to take forever because they prioritise things that are far less important to most players over actually fixing the major problems. For example, who needs a rework more, a champion who isn't as cool as they could be and is barely played, or one that is incredibly frustrating to play against, hated by a large percentage of the player base and picked or banned in most games?

Riot think it's the former. I firmly believe it to be the latter.

Spoofghoul1 votes

well on the rework point both are priorities i think but riot solely focuses on the ''uncool'' champs and ignores the problem champs

which is one thing

but then we get reworks like Yorick yea hes cool and shiny, 2 weeks later 0,3% playrate and for good reason. basically he is back where he came from abandoned and forgotten Mordekaiser well that rework was a success of epic proportions 100% pick ban in lcs for a while wow Skarner fun spires . . Malzahar didn't really need a rework that badly, riot did it anyway look where we are now Ryze rework 17092 still broken and many many more failed unwanted and unneeded reworks

Riot has made only 3 and a half successful reworks imho Sion this one is the half successful one, 0,3% - 0,6% playrate the ever creeping mobility didn't do him any favors neither do his base stats or his passive. otherwise he is pretty cool and unique and fun to play Poppy Was a little overtuned, but is fun and unique and functions well Darius Not very different, but more counterplay and better high and low moments Warwick so far i think he is a success but he isn't out very long yet so we will have to see

You for got Shen. Zyra, Syndra, and to a lesser extent Garen. Oh and Vlad and Swain.

those are listed under the sentence and many more right after ryze :P

wasn't gonna name all the failures there are too many including 17092 failed ryze reworks

This just in. Riot is announcing Ryze's 17093 rework that will include an instant cast AOE stun that has 500 base damage and scales with 300% of your AP. It also has the same range as a Kled ult.

But in all seriousness, I do agree that it's strange Riot has reworked one champ in particular like 4 times now while champs that actually need one like Urgot, Galio and Evelynn have had to wait so long to get theirs.

They haven't exactly had the best track record with reworks, that's true. Some - usually the ones that they spent a lot of time on - are either great, or good but with lingering issues (that remain unfixed for a long time.) Others manage to make the champions far worse than they were originally.

Also, I wouldn't call a champion with a good kit that isn't played very much a failure. Sion is probably the best rework of them all, even if the mobility creep makes things hard for him. That's a problem with other champions in the game keeping him from being too viable, rather than an issue with the rework. The same applies to Heimerdinger and probably (?) Yorick.

jungle diversity gets worse every season

jungle meta still too influential on the rest of the game

juggernauts aren't good enough

ranged champs still playing on easy mode for 7 seasons

I think people catastrophize the problems and make it sound like the game is imploding. This is not the case. Sure, there are balance things that pop up and can be a pain, but this always happens when you have a living game that's always being updated, and it's just something we have to deal with. At current, there are no decisively all encompassing game breaking problems, just smaller parts of the big machine that are out of whack. So the game is really just fine, and in the same state as it always has been.

serenity72 votes

There is too much of a power difference between meta and off meta champs. There's a small pool of champions viable to climb with and a lot of champions who need updates.

I've actually been playing for a year now, so while it's not like I've been playing forever I have played for a bit.

S6 and S7 are virtually the same bad stuff except S6 had Dynamic Queue instead of Lethality and Camille

Simply put: 1) Everything does too much damage. 2) More than normal amount of OP champions

MFTORANK11 votes

IMO -

The pace of the game feel faster than before and I don't like it, certain champions are so strong compared to others it's ridiculous, the damage output of Lethality is way too high, I miss when people would fight for Dragons, now it only happens rarely. I feel like control style mages who take time to ramp up are useless now(they were my favorite class). I'm not a jungler but I feel like jungle diversity is really bad right now.
