Harrassed over my Skin

I have no idea which forum to post this in, so please move this thread or direct me to the correct section on this issue.

Just now, I've had the biggest verbal harassment against me in my 2 years of playing this game, and it's all because of the skin I was using, Championship Riven. I had bought the skin at the end of Season 2, for 975 RP, since Riven was the champion that got me into this game. I wasn't very good with her, but I really like her a lot, so I bought the skin.

Today, I decide to play Riven in a Blind Pick match, and as soon as we get into the Rift, people on both teams start taking note of my skin, and how I'm terrible at Riven because of my Runes and Masteries. I explained to them that I just use set pages for the role of my champion, but they kept pointing out that they deserve the skin, and said that I should give them my account. I was against a Nasus top, and every time I made a mistake, people on both teams proceeded to harass me about it. This only made me do worse and worse, and they kept saying things like "you don't deserve that skin" and "give me that skin", along with the usual colorful words that people use. I reported them along with the Yasuo on my team, but will that even do anything?

Is that what this community has come to? People harassing others because of a skin? The worst part is, these people probably won't even be punished for this...
