Ryze's New Passive?

I just played at Top Lane as Diana against a Ryze, and I was decimated. I wasn't able to do anything to him at all, since he'd just get his passive up, all in me, and I'd be dead before I can do anything. All game. From level 2 on, it was just impossible to do anything to him. His passive was ALWAYS up.

What was I doing wrong?

Diana has no tools to counter Ryze's passive, so it is a pretty tough matchup. I would suggest building a lot of MR and hp to wear out his mana bar and survive his burst (and maybe max your shield? I don't play Diana). Ryze is very vulnerable after his burst, and Diana has the tools to chase him down.

I'm really impressed that a Ryze was able to beat anyone.
