Bronze Elo (not a complaint thread)

First off, here is my ranked background, you can skip if you want to see how to climb bronze elo. Season 3: 40% win rate (NOOOOOOOB) Season 4: 29% win rate (HAHAHA) Season 5: 33% win rate (TRASH) Season 6: 62% win rate (HAHA YOU NO...Wait.. WHAT???)

SUPPORT MAIN (We supports rule :P Bow down to your white mages, ADCS)

Season 3-5 I did not care about ranked, I was afraid of Bronze elo, thought only toxic people played in ranked and had an overall salty experience in ranked. Even I was one of those salty little bastards lol. I told people to stop playing ranked, I called them noobs and trash talked. It just was not fun for me, I was afraid to take my main in to ranked because I didn't want to be told "You main this? God you suck!!!" Season 3 I started in Bronze 2, Season 4 I was bronze 4 and Season 5 I didn't even finish my provisional matches.

Over the whole of Season 5, I had one hell of a change in my attitude for league. It hit me that I was playing the game all wrong. So I stuck to normal's and aram for the rest of the season.

Season 6 came and all of my friends got borders, I was kinda jealous because I didn't have any of that. I decided I wanted to have a border.

I was still afraid to bring my main champion in to ranked at the beginning of this season. I still did not want to be told I suck with my main. So I picked Leona. Getting wins with Leona was pretty easy, but It just felt so boring. I love Leona, but I just cant stand playing her. It made my wins feel empty and my losses hurt like hell, but I kept on going. I got through my provisional matches 7 wins 3 losses and got placed in Bronze 5. At first that absolutely crushed me. I felt like riot was cheating me. I blew that thought away as fast as i could, because I caught my self going down the same path as previous seasons.

I got out of Bronze 5 that day. Hit bronze four and thought "sweet, I'm actually climbing!". Bronze 4 was also relatively easy to get out of. Lost my first series match in to bronze 3. I was afraid that I would lose the next two, so I held it off for a while. After I got back in and won those game, I had a sense of "I should try my main in ranked!" Lost three matches in a row. That crushed my spirit again and I didn't use my main in ranked for quite a while.

Bronze 3 took me the longest to get out of, around 24 games I believe. After I hit Bronze 2, Mastery 6 and 7 were released. I stopped playing ranked for a while so I could now try and get my main, Sona, to level 7. Well, That went south in normal's, none of my games lasted long enough to place enough wards and we rarely got over 15 total kills in a single game so I got very few assists.

This is when it hit me, ranked games in bronze tend to last 35-50 minutes. So I decided to toughen up and play her in ranked. I got bronze 1 the same time I got mastery 7 on sona. I was doing pretty well with her in ranked. I over came the fear of what others would think about me playing her in ranked.

I started to climb Bronze 1. It was interesting. I saw new strategies, people that would actually punish me for being out of position and some relatively good matches. I hit my Promos yesterday with a 3 game hot streak. I took my promo matches slow, I won the first one, then played a match of poroking. Won my second match, then took an hour long break. Then queued for my third match, things got interesting here.

The whole enemy team was Silver, three on my team were silver, I was still bronze 1 and we got the first time ranked player. That did not crush my spirit and we actually tried. We got our asses handed to us on a bronze platter for the first 30 minutes of the game. Then the enemy got cocky. We turned it around and won, giving me my silver 5.

I did not feel to good with winning that game though, because this guy that was new to ranked, was toxic. When we started winning, and in the post game chat, he trash talked the enemy team. He went 1/14/4. He is the perfect example of how to get stuck in bronze. Nothing was his fault, everyone else was trash, and he was a god. None of you should have that attitude if you want to leave bronze.

HERE IS HOW TO CLIMB BRONZE!!!!

  1. Have a good attitude. Don't rage, flame, blame or troll anyone. They may have had a bad baron call that got you guys aced, but you know what? your at fault too, because YOU followed them. Flaming, blaming and trolling hurts you more than it hurts the rest of your team. They will likely not get paired with you again, but you are more likely to get paired with someone who pissed you off like they did.

  2. Play a champion you like to play. If you play a champion you dislike, you wont have any fun, not having fun leads to tilt, and tilt leads to bad attitudes and decisions.

  3. Take breaks. If you just won a game, don't just re-queue instantly. Take a 5-10 minute break and go in to the next game refreshed. If you lose, take a longer break, play a couple normal, aram or featured games. It helps a lot, even if the normal/aram/featured is a loss.

  4. Have something in background to keep you positive. For me I have some music that I can sing along to when I'm playing. If I am losing, it keeps me optimistic and away from the flames.

  5. Ignore your current rank and LP gain/loss and try your best to perform better than you did in your last game. There may be some of you out there with 300 wins in bronze 5 thinking "this guy is an idiot, there is elo hell, I gain 7 lp and lose 14 lp." If you are losing LP greater than or equal to you wins, just ignore it. Keep tabs on your performance and worry about yourself, if top/jungle/mid/adc/sppt gives first blood, just tell yourself "I don't care, I can still out perform the enemy".

This is how I climbed. Its really simple but many people ignore it.

As a plat who has 1v1'ed bronze players and coached them (yes I know I'm not that high, but I'm high enough to help bronzes) these are generally correct.

A few other tips:

  1. mute allchat. Just do it.

  2. never stop walking erratically around in lane. I see bronzes and silvers stand still or walk predictably back and forth.

  3. sometimes the farm isn't worth it. If you try to last hit something far away from the creep line as Garen, for example, and I'm playing Quinn or Pantheon, I'll make you pay. So don't do that.

  4. do not overfocus on ganking as a jungler. I know that the main complaint is junglers who AFK farm only, but there's a time and place for both farming and ganking.

  5. recognize when you are strong and when you are weak.

6 . Sometimes you just need to let them die when they get caught out.

7 . WARDS SAVE LIVES AND WIN GAMES. BUY PINK WARDS.

8 . Level 2 and Level 6 are the most common times people die in lanes. Pay attention to your enemies' levels.

9 . Learn to CS. Literally 90% of your time in lane and income comes from CSing.

10 . You're gonna lose games no matter how high elo you are, so try to learn from every defeat. Learn what the enemies did better than you to win, don't just ignore it. A lost game that you learned from is not really a loss.

Ah, as a support main, it's been a struggle to just get to bronze 1, and I still had to tank some hard loses whenever Korea mutates an adc and some people play them for "freelo" with no prior expernice

When I get ADC's that are playing that champ for the first time in a ranked game, I try to help them for the first 15 minutes, If they are to agressive and keep dying, its time to roam.

Support top has been my secert op for quite awhile, most people dont know what to do when they have a new permanent resident in their lane and end feeding some kills, usually along with their confused jungler

as a player that exclusively plays in bronze over (500 bronze games in s6) i must say mr. OP, if you wanted to climb so badly you could've just played those 'put the enemy in front of me' champs like thresh and blitz who are the absolute gods of bronze. Also looking at your ranked history, it also just looks like you didn't play enough ranked because your total games for the entirety of season 3 to 5 was 66 ranked games. I believe you would've eventually climbed to silver in seasons past simply by just playing more ranked games.

l0l at supporting in bronze is no fun, its a nightmare unless u just pretend to go support and build full damage like most low elo players such as myself.
