Mana regen nerfs and the assassin mid meta.

With the new patch and no changes to mana regen, nor the problem of manaless assassins being able to push just as hard as mages, what will the fate of mages be in the coming weeks?

Mages already have been shoving supports out of their role, so, now that mages are no longer welcome in mid lane, will traditional supports have a place to go anymore?
