What you see is not always indicative of your MMR, which is what determines where you are seeded when you finish placements. If you have a MMR that says you should be bronze 3, you can go 10-0 and you'll still get landed in bronze 3, maybe bronze 2. The system you can see is mostly just a pretty thing to look at, that distracts you from the engine below.

Long story short, MMR does not equal what your rank is at. Most people get placed lower than they finished last season, it's normal. Bronze 1 to Bronze 3 isn't that bad of a drop, from a MMR perspective. You also don't gain MMR proportional to the LP you gain either, so, just because you -see- yourself at Bronze 1, doesn't mean your MMR is what the system considered Bronze 1 to be at.

Riot did a soft reset on MMR. Meaning that you got pegged down a full Tier. You going 7/3 put you at Bronze 3 rather than Bronze 5.

Its all about your mmr from last season and preseason. EX: I was p4 and my two friends were d5. We played all 10 placments together, went 5/5, and i got placed G3 and they got placed P3. So even though every game i play is with p4+ players, meaning my mmr is at that level, i still get placed in g3. Every solo game, still with p4+ players. They just want people to grind back to their spots.
