After around 500+ games with Garen, These are my thoughts

Why are some champs so bad? Garen makes no sense to me...all his abilities scale from AD and his e from Crit... Ok, so if you build damage/crit you can farm a bit but you die in 3 hits from like anyone and without a real engage you cant get to someone and kill them.

But then you have his passive that benefits from HP/Spirit Visage. So i build tank, i cant farm worth a poop and its really hard to kill me with "w" active but without any CC or Real engage he just becomes a wall, upon which everyone punches to death

Oh i can jungle with him? Hes super duper slow and how do you itemize him?

But the best part is his R. Yes it CAN hit hard but its magic damage (It really needs to be true damage) and really never does much than killing a mage/adc is your lucky. IF.

Most of the time ill build him tanky so i don't die and can do something for the team but what always happens is a fight breaks out and by the end its me alive vs enemy team....

He fits no role at all, and how his abilities scale you cant even use half of them either way you build..... If hes is going to fit a tank-ish role His Q is fine His W is fine His E Needs to scale differently OR add a slow effect to affected enemies for some CC that be desperately needs His R needs to be True damage flat and magic bonus so he can actually kill low HP ADC/Mages (as of now they literally need to be lower than 250HP to die it seems) His Passive is Fine

If he wants to Fit a damage role.

No, just no nothing makes sense for him to deal damage without a complete overhaul.

Can the man get something done about him, he does not need to be meta but at least can he playable......he isn't even playable. I've never seen him used in Pro games and i think i've seen him maybe 5 times on various streams and i'm sure most of those were ARAM

Garen is a massive tank. grab item 3083 item 3143 item 3065 and have fun with the rest of your build because just by standing there you will see your health rise and you can hop back in to the fight. for being a no mana champion, he's really mean top laner. just by some armor and a stack of health pots and just stand in lane. he's just ridiculous if you ask me

Yes, this is my build nearly every time. But in the top lane i get bullied so hard buy nearly every champ, and those i can fight will almost always farm better. Also, if i am having a tough time in the top lane their jungle ignores me and goes full on bot/mid lane which can lead to problems with too many lanes losing.

IDK, He needs something a small boost somewhere to be playable IMHO.

Pick any tank/bruiser

They all outclass him. Garen fits a niche so small its a joke. He is only decent super late game with items, he get bullied hard and relies heavily on your team to start a CC enage.

Here is your problem. You are trying to farm with him, instead of just waiting in every bush on the map for the entire game, waiting for your food (the enemy team) to come to you.

Garen is simply a dumb champion design, just like mundo. People use it as a tank, but it has no cc, and to the people who use them as a bruiser-type thing (which is pretty unlikely) they still have very bad trading potential and get kited and killed extremely easily.

true dmg is a bad change its a skill that scales of enemys stats and it always deals some epic damage if it would scale of his ad the true dmg would be fine

but true dmg will make this skill insane (the only counter to true dmg is hp, but you will increase the dmg by building hp making thiis skill preety op, and then you would come crying cause everything else got nerfed to the point where garen has only one skill and no build options besides cdr for that ult)

if you suggest a change think about the consequences and future ballance of your champ because you just suggested gutting him to the point where he would be worse than yasuo (oh boi such a good kit but its not worth a sht cause he got nurfd)

As of now, his ult rarely kills anyone. Sometimes you get lucky on a very very low ADC/Mage after an failed Assassin attempt. His r deals too little, It relies on the opponent having a huge health pool and being at low HP. An ADC/Mage does not have a big pool so his R gets reduced hard by basic MR and then deals little to no bonus damage.......its like its supposed to be used on other tanks......why lol

as for now his ult still deals damn high damage and well i see it kill quite often

dunno tho cause i see garen rarely which doesnt change the fact that changing r to true dmg is a full retard move that will force him to get gutted to a worse state than he is

Garen isn't just a tank, he's a bruiser. This is why he has no CC, because he's meant to deal damage. item 3031 item 3071 item 3035 Pick one or even two of these three. Then grab whatever boots you want. item 3083 item 3065 item 3068 Fill out the rest of your build with these and watch the enemies cry because the moment you get in range they are boned.

You mean those super late game builds? By the time you even get all that the games either over or you have fed them or your teammates and raged you hard.

BC into tank isn't late game. Now LW or IE on Garen is a late game item and should only be bought fifth or sixth.

Yes and no. You've got to really know how you're going to initiate. In lane Garen can be all over you faster than you can think when he really wants to get on you. Later on you've a good chance so long as Garen doesn't decide to hang out in bushes. But even then Garen can shake off at least one hard CC and still get a pretty massive speed boost which can force a flash faster than you'd think.

I dunno, showing clips at the 25+ min mark does not mean much to me as he already can be annoying that late. As for your early points you basically say "let the opponent push your lane and roam, do not roam and push their tower" I see you putting a ton of pressure on your mid laner for that.

Your runes make sense but without armor, i cant see you not dying to Assassins at 6 Seems every "viable garen" build i see involves an extreme gamble

also in your clips no one is trying to kill you/kite you, which is super easy w/o CC assistance
