Can Urgot be Competitive?

I was browsing some of the champions and I felt like I wanted to play someone who wasn't used much (first one was Veigar).

I happened upon Urgot. After examining him I'm curious what everyone thinks about him possibly being competitive.

Do you think he has the damage potential to do well? Any good in TF? etc. Urgot

he was picked in pro play as a counter to Zed mid due to his shield and tanky build path... he is some what of an anti assassin

kinda like how Trundle is the anti tank

basically he is a zed counter and not much more, low mobility, super weak early game and an ultimate that puts him in the middle of the enemy team

competitive is akin to reliable, in worlds, most reliable characters are the ones on the spotlight, namely Syndra who's damage is pretty much point and click.

As for Urgot, his damage comes from locking on with his E, but sadly, the lock on range is pretty lackluster. He isn't a reliable tank either because of his stats and this makes his ult awful, even if he gets extra bonuses when he uses it, he's still pretty squishy.

Now as a support he could theoretically work but he's pretty dependent on items and doesn't really scales with AP :S
