Taric's almost certainly going to be the next full relaunch released. Exact timing's not completely certain yet, odds are good he'll be after the next new champion (after Jhin), but before the new champion after that.

Yeah, I think it was Gypsy in a Reddit thread on Jhin because someone complained about how they released two ADCs in a row and he felt that he didn't have mages he liked to play in a while, since he mained mages. However, champion updates and "new" champions altogether are different. So it's highly unlikely that Taric who's currently a tank is going to somehow become a mage. After all, Poppy was a bruiser, she remained a bruiser. Shen was a tank, he remained a tank. In other words new champion doesn't refer to an update to an existing champion, but rather an actual new champion whose face and name you have never seen before.

Does it even feel obnoxious when people ask for what 'the next big project is' directly after you release such a project (i.e. just released Shen rework, about to release Jhin, just released new Dynamic Queue, "Yeah but when's Taric plz hurry?")?

It's something I can completely understand - I'd be asking the same questions myself if a champion I really liked had been talked about as a rework candidate for a long time. We often won't be able to answer questions on timelines, got no problems whatsoever about people asking though unless the question's really non constructive.

@Meddler: Is there a possiblity to get more iformation about the steps of rework(of anny champion)? like:

y2 tbd

Wouldn't just show the actual status but also how much efford you are puting into the rework.

The champion gets a gameplay and a visual update, meaning Taric's model as well as his existing skins get updated. If you already possess the champion, and you have all the skins like you say, then you'll keep them, there will just be sort of new skins replacing the older ones. Compare Poppy's rework; every skin Poppy has right now is an update of her older skins with new visuals and splash screens. Those who have bought Lollipoppy before the update still have Lollipoppy, the only difference being that the Lollipoppy skin they had then and the one they have now don't look the same, as they were updated. The same goes for Shen's update and Shen's skins.

AFTER the New Champ. OKay this was before Jhin was released. They said after the champion after Jhin, before the champion after that one. So: Jhin > Aurelion Sol > Taric > New Champion

Had to log in to upvote this, I love Taric the way he is, but hey let us admit he could use a visual rework. As for his skills... I am iffy on that, Taric being my favorite champ makes me wish they would leave him alone, but at the same time, there is the hope he gets some bonus benefits. I love him as he is, I always was just under he impression people don't get how to play him personally, I mean I was in a game the other day and a Miss Fortune told me "Hey Taric, hate to tell you, but Taric isn't a valid champ" few seconds later I killed their Jax, who was totally rocking top lane vs an Illaoi mind you he was their powerhouse, in a 1v1.

I also had a few really good all for one Taric matches when that was going on, people all complained at first cept the other guy who voted Taric, and then by the end everyone was having fun, so I mean I think people just don't give him a chance.

All in all though, Riot is going to do what they are going to do rather we like it or not, so I trust them to make him better. I will sadly miss my tanky, heals for days, paladin if they change him a lot though.

Yeah man, I do love him the way he is. I will admit it is time for a rework but as you mentioned, I will miss the tankyness along with the HUGE heals. I hope he can at minimum keep that part of his kit.

Fear not my friend. I've seen a large thread about taric rework and one rioter said that he will be some kind of a battle mage with healing capabilities. So his role will remain unchanged. Also his ult is going to have game changing mechanics. Quoting riot designer "most powerful ult in game". But don't get too excited before he comes out.

You know that taric says something like "Ruby for vigor " and something like that for all his gems . Wouldn't it be cool to have a certain ability for every gem? For ruby you get damage , for diamond u get invincibility , and so on. I think that's a cool concept for the Taric rework and I can't wait for it to come out . Rito pls hurry up.

Im betting on a "added skillshots just so hand-eye skill becomes a factor instead of strategy" and also something like 2 skills "whenever your ally..." just so he becomes locked to support; Just so ppl cant decide to play him anywhere else.
