Higher MMR Players in my Games

I am new to the game and I started playing two months ago, I am almost level thirty but when I play pvp games in the summoners rift map I keep getting matched up against teams with, at least two, people in gold league or higher. I understand how MMR works from previous gaming experience but is this suppose to happen? I am level 28 right now, but even from, like, level 20 I started seeing players in platinum on my team and the enemy team. Is their MMR that low? Also I have been playing a lot of the ARAM map and in that map I don't encounter many high league players.

well. the mmr system thinks you are a smurf or around those tiers. the thing with normals though is that ranks usually dont mean a whole lot. it would be alot more telling if you consistently played with other unrankeds and low silver and bronze ppl in norms as i know ppl who play ranked who play against that kinda stuff in norms and they are bad at the game. this means you are likely on track to make it to gold or plat if you continue to improve in norms and play ranked seriously. in regards to their mmr being low: it might be - if you only see 1 or 2 of them out of 10 in a game. otherwise i feel like sometimes riot's mmr system kinda "tests the waters" when you are improving in skill. for example when i first started i would play a ton of games on arams and typically i would play around an estimated 1400 mmr but every once in awhile i would play in a 1600 or 1700 game and it definitely felt tougher. this might be what is happening to you. additionally if the gold or plat is playing with an unranked person then they would likely be placed in the game you described even though they are gold or plat.
