Morgana Mid Nerfing

So lately Riot has been nerfing Morgana because of her mid lane presence supposedly. Now, their excuse was that, well, they don't want her mid lane.

...?

I'm sorry, where is the part where she is SUPPOSED to be a support? If Lux can mid lane or support why can't Morgana? If Annie can mid lane or support why can't Morgana? If Brand can...well you get the point. You're trying to cut her waveclear dry, and it is pretty obvious. But my question is can you tell us WHY we apparently aren't allowed to play mid lane as her? I'm not TOO shocked, as you guys tried to gut on-hit Neeko, (yes that thing was busted, but lets admit they did try gutting that for good, so why even give her a third auto passive?) so frankly I totally see you as the type of people to make sure only SOME champions aren't allowed fun.

Are you planning on making every champion stick to one role? Because it feels more like you are just not allowing diversity in a select few, and not the whole. If Morgana mid lane is dominating, let me know, but frankly I never thought a burst mage would be not accepted in mid lane. It is mildly disappointing.

Edit: Been reading some of the comments, and I can see where it comes from now, thank you for the input. However, I do want to point out, that not every champion can be countered by anyone. I saw some people complaining over black shield, but we have mid laners that dont even get bothered by it. For example Zed and Karthus. Now the root I can see being a major annoyance for lane, but when I saw that the complaint was her pushing power, it made me wonder, what about other hard push characters? Sorry if I'm defending this Morgana mid thing too much, I just want to know the true reasoning and if it was a change that goes for other laners. For example, is Aurelion Sol still known as one of the best lane pushers in the game? Sorry I'm complicated blehhh

Her pick rate was also really low to consider her as overpowered. Meanwhile Zed [zombie-brand-facepalm]

It's not about forcing her to support. She just was too good at stalling out the mid lane with her w. The lane lacked interaction and was too strong to boot. Good nerf.

It's because Morgana's design doesn't allow her to be too strong. She's very basic and extremely hard to shutdown if she ever gets a lead on you. CC immunity and utility, high damage, lots of CC.

She was too strong, especially in mid, and she got nerfs that were directed at that role so that her support (which wasn't as out of line) didn't suffer AS much. They don't have a problem with her being a midlaner, they have a problem with her being a 54%+ winrate midlaner.

Lux was pushed to support more than Mid so that's a bad example

Morgana Mid was busted , it was no way in Hell fair to play against She was just shoving waves Way too fast and Mages couldn't keep up and got forced to miss a lot of cs in a stupid way

And her Mid lane was nerfed , not Gutted , doesn't mean she's unplayable

morgana mid has the same problem malz used to and ekko has now. she presses w on the wave once to insta clear and then walks away, it's neither interactive or fun and there's no way to outplay her.

Only problem here is that brand is shitty midlaner and completely abandoned as one by riot.

Meh. This was obviously going to happen if they refused to change the outdated parts of her kit. She's only allowed one role because she's way too simple.

That said, she isn't a burst mage by design. If she is bursting people, that's a problem. She has the longest CC in the game and her main damage is over-time. It should be taking longer for her to kill someone.

Morgana, a mage who started as a midlaner, then moved to support. Now riot is beating her up for going back.

Moreover, just look at the similarity to lux's kit - how is morg not seen as a midlaner?

because a third auto passive doesn't make a champion something that should build on hit (diana, xin, ekko, etc.), its there to give the champion a little more interesting trading patterns and counterplay not to make em build fucking rageblade nashorsh.

If Lux can mid lane or support why can't Morgana? If Annie can mid lane or support why can't Morgana?

the same reason AP janna was pushed out of mid lane, they just push 1 button from mass range and it clears the entire wave without any interraction, morg is actually worse than janna was tho since she actually scales really well now.
