How preliminary games and determining your seeding seems really really really really stupid

I was silver 5 in season 4, having ranged from s2-s5. In season 4 I was unranked and played the preliminary games, went 5/10 and got placed into s4. This season I went 5/10 and got placed into b5. How exactly does this work, and how are the preliminary games not as crucial when deciding your seeding???? I was expecting to be put into s5 or b1/2 and was completely floored and angered when I got into b5. I don't think my mmr and all that stuff is that bad. But the seeding seems really messed up. (Also if preliminary games don't matter as much how come dyrus went 3/7 and got put into plat 1....)

If you got to S4, you can get there again.

went 9-1 from Silver 5 and got placed in B2

Challenger players are being placed in plats. so they fell 3 tiers below. you fell from silver to bronze... dont' cry

lol... I wonder if Riot is trolling people. They specifically created a post saying the placements will not have as huge of an affect, yet it seems even more extreme now.
