AS for last hitting?

Been searching for info on this, but unfortunately most hits on google are really old and I'm not sure how things have changed. I am wondering about the viability of using AS runes for last hitting. The reason I don't test it myself is because it's going to be a long time before I have enough IP for that.

Obviously using AD gives a larger window for last hitting, and is used by most people including pros. But is there any reason to use AS over AD? For example, I'm finding that the enemy will be poking the hell out of me and sometimes I have to choose to get 1 cs or possibly lose half my health and have to retreat completely, losing multiple CS. A faster attack speed would allow me to get in, last hit, and get out much more quickly. It could also allow better last hitting under the turret by being able to prime the minions more quickly and beat the turret's shot. With AD, yes the window is larger, but with the slow base level attack speed I leave myself open to being poked for far longer. With AS runes, I can cut that time in half. It also allows for more poking on my part.

Does this sound reasonable? Has anyone tried this approach and what were the results?

Check probuilds. ALL pro adc run AS marks. This also allows you to only need boots and 1 As item for max damage late game. Your behind the pros on this idea, aka old news.

Last hitting is a big part of laning but it's not everything... AD runes are more widely used because they're used better by most champions than attack speed runes. A lot of champions have AD scaling abilities and they can use those to trade and fight and even use them to shove/last hit in lane. Autoattacks aren't the only thing in the game.

Don't Pros run AS Quints on AD Carries now after the LS Quint nerfs?

EDIT: I've never been a fan of having heaps of AS on AD Carries. After a while it hinders your movement (because you spend more time attacking than you do moving) so you end up trading survive-ability for damage or you waste attack speed by moving (i.e. you need to walk further to remain safe which takes up time that you could be auto-attacking). For this same reason I generally prefer TriForce over PD unless TriForce isn't effective on that champion.

Depends on the champ, but for the sake f argument I would say AD.

Never really thought about how runes might affect my farming during the laning phase, and you bring up good points as to why I should.

Usually I chose my runes just based how they synergize with the champion that I'm playing, and who I will be laning against.
For example, you almost always take ad marks/quints on Khazix instead of attack speed, because he is an ad caster assasin, so he scales much better with flat ad than attack speed.

Moving in to get the last hit with AD runes and moving in to get the last hit with AS runes doesn't make a difference. If you move in to deal the LAST HIT. wether your ad is 300 or your atk speed is 2.50, it doesn't matter. You move into range, and you deliver ONE auto attack, you deal the LAST HIT, then you back off. If you aren't last hitting properly with AD runes AS runes won't help. If you get chunked for walking into range to deal 1 auto attack with AD, what logic can you provide to suggest a different outcome by walking into range with AS Runes and dealing 1 auto attack? I only feel Atk Spd Runes viable on junglers and a very, very few select champs that don't have an AS steroid, would like AS, but usually benefit better from building items NOT AS. Which is when Runes would help. Also 2.50 atk speed cap, if a champ usually buys into alot of AS, you're likely to push 2.50 with your runes before you complete your optimal build.

try to mix ad marks with as quints, it helps alot for lasthitting and pokeing will still giving enough raw damage, and the overall dps are higher than with just ad unless you rush a PD

what most people ignore is that more as also speeds up your AA animation, which is really usefull for lasthitting and harrasing aswell as kiteing

last hitting just takes practice to master i have personally found that watching the health bars and if it doesnt seem like helping u give it a couple of shots to get going and then ull see that u be getting the last shots

Never tried it personally, don't play much Adc but it sounds like a solid plan, but then again I'm jung/Supp so what do I know about last hitting lol
