My issue from the beginning update reveal was that the sword would feel like a dog chain and it does. I don't like keeping track of it in order to use W which is required by you and your teammates. Also, he's really slow to play now it seems. I liked the faster style but this Shen requires the other team to basically throw you a bone due to the energy management being poor. You can't string together moves because of the ridiculous energy costs for his abilities. He's nice and strong stat wise no doubt....but the other Shen was funner to play. Seems like some rito designer had a "good idea" for a new champ and it felt to much like Shen so they 'fixed' what wasn't broken in the first place. The Q is nice but I find my self wanting to snap too it ala Azir sand soldiers rather than the other way around much of the time. If you play both Azir and Shen you will be thrown off.

Not sure how I feel about it. What is really weird to me is how his spirit sword moves. As in, if you are farming at your tower and then push the wave to the enemy tower, where is it? how far away does it stay from him?

Taking him and putting him as an only melee champ makes sense but doesn't. I am really hoping that his ratios changed. Having him stay AP based will be stupid, as no one builds AP on him (just like the S@20 article states). Very curious but at the same time very cautious. I have been waiting anxiously but now I am more confused than happy.

  1. How does his passive work? Where is it if he uses teleport or walks back to lane?
  2. Are his ratios still going to be AP or will they change to actually make them not useless?
  3. Does his W (Spirit Refuge) only work with allied champions in the bubble or can he proc it himself?
  4. Will he have base stats that are buffed to compensate for the even worse early/mid game he will have do to losing his ranged Q?

So many questions. Hopefully Riot will respond to a thread somewhere and answer them for us.

my main top lane champ is shen so I was worried when I heard he was getting a rework and sure ima miss the old shen but this still looks great. Though I am going to miss his old q and the health it gave the team, I like the replacement with w but his new q worries me that he will have a lot more damage, will he lose a lot of his tanky aspect due to this? or will he still be the head-first-taunt-everyone-and-shield-while-your-team-wrecks-their-faces champion or will he have more damage and change his play style, I am worried but excited.
