Ryze, Kha'Zix, and Lissandra should NOT be on the new player champion rotation.

They are all fairly difficult to play and are not new user friendly. I would suggest that appropriate replacements be Katarina, Cassiopeia, and Sejuani

Edit: For everyone asking why I chose cass, it was because she was the only "Spammy Battle Mage" I could think of to take Ryze's place, and to be honest, her rework took away a lot of the skill that was needed to play her and she is pretty straightforward now, and 100000% less punishing than before.

"new user friendly" Cassiopeia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztVMib1T4T4

I think its fine with them, they're not mechanically challanging or anything, not like you'll be doing norms pre-10 anyway and be successful with something easy. The only exception is kha'zix who isn't really "lane friendly" and can't jungle without smite while having a clear speed/substain of rift scuttler.

New (And old-new) Ryze is pretty complicated for a new player to learn, and Lissandra's playstyle is not new player friendly at all, as she is a squishy mage that relies on diving into the depths of fights to do anything, where most new players will die instantly because they don't know how to move/use abilities/build correctly.

So why are Khazix and Lissandra hard to play but Cassiopeia is easy?

Because playing cass you can sit mid range and attack them, with Liss you are literally diving into the middle of battle where most new players will die in 0.3 seconds unless they are playing a tank?

Her ult heals her and makes her invulnerable. The shop also recommends zhonyas.

But then you recommend Katarina as a starting champ, whose entire kit revolves around diving into a battle where you are guaranteed to die unless your timing is perfect, you count enemy cc cooldowns, and you pass the stat check.

Not to mention that she loses lane to literally everyone but Lux, TF, and garbage Vel'koz players. In some cases it's so bad that you can't even be in lane without almost guaranteed feeding, like against a decent Akali, FIzz, Kassadin, Diana, or Viktor. So you have to roam, which has inherently higher skill requirement than an Annie sitting in lane getting idiot-proof CS for basically no mana.

Ahri Would also be a decent starter champ, come to think of it. Low skill floor, high skill cap champs make good starters.

Cassiopeia wut

Lissandra is very user friendly and simple to pick up, what's her issue?

A Liberal1 votes

Huge mana issues and relies on diving to do anything, which is not at all a new player friendly tactic.

Mechanically she's nothing special. Yi has to dive to do anything and he's as simple and new player as they get, as well as Garen.

She has one spammable spell, one instant cast aoe, and a double press mobility. No special combos, no special mechanics.

New players are the only ones that benefit from the free rotation. Many people use it to trial champs before purchasing them.

Perhaps not cass, but maybe Lux?

I forget who the champions you start with are, lmao, so if she's already there then my b.

Dynikus2 votes

I forget who you get. I think it's Kayle Shyvana Jinx Lux Khazix Lissandra Ryze Ashe Garen Varus

But I could be remembering wrong.

Nope you're right +1

Annie Amumu Jhin Morgana Pantheon Velkoz

All perfectly serviceable starting champs, and they're all easier than Lissandra.

I don't know...giving new players a short-range squishy mage and throwing them into melee range seems like a recipe for disaster. Liss was one of the first champs I played when I was new, and it was disastrous.

She was my very first champion I played and I almost quit the game because I was like wow okay this is dumb I can't do anything without dying or running out of mana.

Maybe Ryze is oughta place. Dunno about the others though.

Difficult to play in a meta with seasoned players is different, very different than 10 newbies playing LoL on their first week. Also have to consider how they are to play AGAINST. I guess Kha, Ryze and Lissandra are thematically very clear.

Sejuani is kinda hard to learn if your new
