This is something that has bothered me since beta, and now that Riot is focusing more and more on player conduct and good sportsmanship, I feel it should be addressed. Taunts on champions should be removed. Why, in a game that rewards good behavior and punishes bad, is taunting a thing? It promotes poor sportsmanship. The NFL has made victory dances after a touchdown a penalty. Taunting in league serves the same purpose. Taunts say "Ha Ha, you slipped up." Should we really be condoning this kind of behavior as a gaming community? Some of the taunts are just downright mean. Kayle's in particular comes to mind. "Are you sure you're in the right league?" That's toxic. Anyway, that's just my two cents on the issue. I'd love to hear from the community, but please keep the flaming to a minimum (I realize by asking, trolls will feel obligated to comment, but seriously, please.) If I catch a Rioter's comments (Tryndamere, Zilean ), I'll be even happier. Thank you for reading :) (also, i apologize if this is the wrong board for this)

Let's remove Dunk Master Darius while we're at it, he's kind of a douche.

You know, Akali's joke so rude, let's remove it.

While we're at it, Garen's dance could be construed as calling you a monkey, better remove.

Laughing is toxic, better remove.

Now that I think about it, outplaying is pretty toxic. Let's remove that while we're at it.

I'm simply talking about the irony of having harassment as a reportable offense, when there is a champion command that does it for you, that's all. Will it be removed? No, because that's too much work for Riot (literally, it would be a large patch), as well as your fourth comment. Now, I don't know why you chose to be toxic in your phrasing (belittling my intelligence does nothing, but you made a few good points.) The point of this discussion is not to complain, but simply open up a discussion.

Spamming emotes is very different compared to people telling others to kill themselves and get cancer. Emote spam takes on whatever tone is already in your head. One person could view a laugh spammer as an annoying piece of crap who should go die in a hole, where as another might counter it with spamming dance and having a jolly time. There's enough wiggle room in there for it to be considered non-toxic, where as many phrases that are typed are quite clear in their intent.

(...where did I belittle your intelligence? I took what "remove taunts" would mean in the "this is toxic" way. After all, all those other things could be considered toxic. Akali calls you a noob, Dunkmaster is literally pure bm Darius)

Because a lot of taunts are good natured joking/light taunting, not toxicity. Going "Next time, try to leave a dent" as Leona is funny and not really toxic; same with almost every other taunt. Just because you consider someone using the taunt as rude does not mean we should remove taunts.

Sorry for misunderstanding your intentions earlier. And yes, a lot of taunts are harmless. Teemo's in particular is quite benign. But to clarify, I don't consider taunts to be a large issue, nor do I consider people using taunts as rude, per se. It all depends on multiple different circumstances. I just find the irony of their existence makes riot seem like hypocrites. They readily allow a command that is meant to harass. Champion taunts are for the most part harmless, but taunting an opponent in chat is toxic according to Riot. Seems strange to me.
