The look of it for damage champions.
For heal/shield champs, the creature looks appropriate.
But if you are playing

It seems strange, that the best keystone for you, is a cute little blue creature.
I think they should split it into 2 keystones.
Aery stays the same, and add an "evil" looking creature, that has no shield power, but a bit more damage.
A little void creature, or fire spirit.
I think they're trying to push 'the best keystone for you' toward comet (or something from domination), so that aery isn't actually as strong a choice on damage focused champs, hence the nerfs to its damage this patch.
damage is getting nerfed next patch.
I want to use comet because I know it is the INTENDED choice for a lot of burst champions but I am forced to use aery because when I use comet I just can't beat people who are using aery, the poke is too strong. Aery makes meteor almost pointless.
Agreed. I thought it was gonna be a rune designed for supports based on the look alone. Id also say comet can look out of place on certain champions too, mainly because their base model doesnt have the updated cartoony look as newer champions.

Because blue tree is support/mage and not support they needed to create keystones that can be used by both mages and supports.
Thats why Aery is what he is. He needs to be both because riot thinks mages = supports.
How about throughout the game depending on whether you use it more on allies or on enemies it changes form. I say this because the rune is a unique choice because you're not going full out shield with guardian or full out damage with electrocute. You are making the choice for less damage and less shielding but the ability to swap inbetween.
Use it more on enemies and it gets a more vicious look?
