Riot, Does my League CD app give unfair advantage to players?

League CD on the App Store

I have made an app that gives easy access to champion cool downs. I just wanted to make sure that this does not give unfair advantage as per Riot rules.

In my interpretation it does not, because cool down information is made available in places Riot website, wiki, and Riot API. I see it as a learning tool to make players better to start memorizing champion cool downs. This app is not linked to the game, so it does not show the actual in game cool downs of players. Just what the champion cool down is (with variable CDR). I just wanted to make sure since one of the users (non Riot) is commenting that this give unfair advantage to players.

This is considered an unfair advantage; tracking CD's specifically. People using this will be banned, as a fair warning. You simply can't track cd's like that, it creates an uneven playing field.

EDIT: Wait; is this kind of like a CD tracker, logging when they use an ability, and then it timing a cd, or does it use the API to track CD's for you.

No, its like a wiki for cool downs. It only tells you the cool down of the champion. I have incorporated preferred build so you can speculate what CD a champion has at given level. But this is an offline app, not connected to in game play at all.

so you will not be able to actively see how much enemy champion has left on ability like a cd tracker.

Oh, then it's 100% allowed!

In general, if it interfaces with either client at any point between clicking PLAY and the post-game chat, then it is not legal.

So once downloaded, this is used offline. It does not in anyway interact with the client.

Then it is not illegal, simply as that.

Do I get it correctly that this app is simply a tool that shows cooldowns of champions in dependence of CdR?

Yes. You can change the CDR. I have also made it so that it shows you the most common ability path for that champion. With that you can see how CDR affects each champion.

Not entirely true. All the old buff/jungle camp timers were viewed as cheating. Problem is that its almost impossible to prove that someone is using them

BlackLizard1 votes

Just to add, my app does not have timers. It shows the cool down and then it doesn't go down like a timer.

Yes, this is a clear violation of Riot's cheating rules. It's like the dragon/buff camp timers that curse voice came with before Riot just added it in. Having exact cooldown info on all champions as opposed to the rough guesses everyone else will have is a clear advantage

BlackLizard1 votes

was that not in violation because it connected with the riot client to see the actual dragon/buff timers? my app is an off line app that shows cool downs of champions. Also this cd information is widely available in Wiki, riot pages. I am just giving easier access.

Alright dumbass he is trolling you. The app is fine i think based on your description of it it is telling only the potential cd and u got to still track the value in your head as you play.

ModAttysu The Poro1 votes

The issue isn't that we're trying to 'troll' him, the issue is that the actual description on how the app works wasn't described well, so it's unclear if we can affirmatively say if it's fair or not. As Ulanopo said, if it interfaces with the client in any way in-between the pause button and post screen, then it is illegal.

BlackLizard1 votes

My apologies, i may have not described it well, but i am saying it is not linked to the game. It does not interface with the client in any way. Its an off line app that can be used during loading screen or when ever you want to know a cool down of a certain champ.

ModAttysu The Poro1 votes

I thought that might be it, but I wasn't sure. That's fine then.

BlackLizard1 votes

I thought so too. Thanks for your help!

BlackLizard1 votes

Yes. exactly my point!

Eedat1 votes

It's illegal.

It goes back to the old buff/dragon timers like the one that was attached to Curse. They were viewed as cheating because it provided tools that your enemy doesnt have. Tracking the timers yourself is fine, but having a program to do it for you is not. Thats an unfair advantage. This is the same thing. Knowing the cooldowns of champions yourself is fine, having a program that does it for you is not

BlackLizard1 votes

This doesnt track anyone's timers. Its not a tracker of any sort. It also does not have any interaction with the client at all. It just gives the cooldown of champion in an offline setting.

Its a tool to search champion's cool down like wiki page but easier access.
