1400 MMR Silver Player with 47% Win Rate Ends Up in My 1800 MMR Plat Game?

Just lost a game because Riot matchmaking assumed the 47% win rate Lucian adc at Silver 2 should be matched with plats. What did you think was going to happen? OPGG shows his solo MMR matches his actual rank of silver 2. Does a 8 division rank difference really mean nothing?

Edit: I asked - he was soloqueing so it's not like it was some duo queue MMR situation.

What's funny enough is I just checked that match and they didn't even bother to even it out with another Silver player. The enemy team literally had all mid-high golds and a Plat III. League has the shittiest ranking system I swear.

The question isn't why he's getting paired with you.

The question is why are you so bad that you're getting paired with him?

Jokes aside; this happens because his 47% win rate is likely tied to him playing and winning against those in your MMR or close to that MMR. Whether he was carried or not is irrelevant to the system that sees a win as a win.

Honestly as a silver player getting put into these games isn't fun for us either. It feels awful to be a burden to the team and be unable to fully keep up against higher mmr players. I've had far too many games like this where the teams have a 200-300 MMR gap and it's pretty apparent from the beginning who will win, unless the higher mmr team is trolling.

Yeah, that's messed up, but riot really doesn't care, so it'll keep happening. Matchmaking seems to be worse than usual in the past few days.

That's how they achieve "better queue times", by letting silvers play with plats in a ranked game. It has no excuse, but Riot won't give a fuck, especially in pre-season.

According to op.gg, your MMR is 1688, not 1800. His is 1565.

Edit: I asked - he was soloqueing so it's not like it was some duo queue MMR situation.

Well either you're lying or he lied to you because he was duo with that G1 guy

Notice how they play another game together after that one

Things like that happen all the time.

I had some Gold IV player with inflated MMR ( becuase he was winning vs silvers ) suddenly appeared in my PLAT IV promo game.

It was over.

The answer is simple, you have lower MMR than you think (plat in rank but not MMR) and he duo'd with the Gold.
