Why should you have to carry your team to win?

Everyone knows in league that in order to climb the ladder you have to strap on your backpack and carry the 4 other kids on your team, but why? Shouldn't playing a solid game and working with the team be enough? If anything this situation makes players less trusting and more greedy. I'd say most games are simply unwinable because even if you go 4-0 in lane and take turret your other lanes have already thrown and started bitching at the jungler for not winning their lane for them. I main adc, almost always have most damage, gold, and cs but still find myself losing games that should've been a cakewalk. (I'm by no means saying there arent things i could improve on, but its hard to improve when every game of solo queue is just a derpfest) Anyone else have thoughts?

Edit: Some commentors are missing the point. I'm not saying i shouldn't have to play well, and i understand kda and cs isn't everything. I'm asking why people think it makes sense that 1 person should have to do all the work in 5v5 game just to get to a rank where people actually understand things. Season 4 was my first season of league (never even played a moba before it) and i got to silver, yet in my games i can get bronze 3s on my team and silver 1's on the enemy team. My real life friends i play with are gold and platinum and i still do well when i queue with them, so i know my skills are higher than silver. Im sure its better once youre in gold/plat because people actually have an idea of what to do, but in silver there is such a huge skill gap between players that carrying 75% of the games just isnt gonna happen.

I've played 2 placements for season 5 and just dont even want to continue because of the stupid shit i see. I love the game but hate getting shit talked because my team feeds. Here are my season 5 stats. http://lkjs.zamimg.com/summoner/na/48638686#ranked-stats

you've never been carried?

If anyone has ever thought this, then you need to stop playing a team game with randoms. Go play with a dedicated team.

Can't find a dedicated team? You aren't trying hard enough.

Why? Because it's YOUR RANK. A long while ago, Riot made some expirement showing that elo hell doesn't exist IIRC, with diamonds starting off in bronze 5 and trying to get back to diamond. All of them were back in less than 3 days. I've been in bronze 2, and have climbed to gold 3 by myself. It's not hard, it takes focus, determination, and skill. Along the way, you will get carried too. And what other ways do you propose to climb up the ladder?

you arent doing it for them you do it for yourself sure I could stop trying and lose cuz clearly no one on this team deserves anything higher than Bronze V anyway

Think of it this way, You want to climb doesn't mean your team mates want you to climb. If you want to climb why don't you carry yourself? :)

It's like saying I want to make money, but why do I have to do the work?

It's just that you should always aim to be making up for mistakes your teammates make. It's teamwork in a different sense. If you are a better player, then you need to be the best player. Everyone has had games where they have been carried by another team member. It's like foreign money conversion. For every $4, you get 1 back, in some currencies. You're guaranteeing that one of your bad games will go well if you can make that happen for other people.

Just yesterday I had a game as jungle Aatrox, my team was about 14 kills behind and we lost 2 inhibitors, twice. I realized that despite being the only reason that my team had kills, and they all lost lane regardless, that I had to just work with it. I noticed that because I initiated all the time, my team would just dive right in, even if I had only intended to assassinate a straggler. I spent the last 15 minutes fighting super minions while my team did their own thing of playing cautiously and catching stragglers. Oddly, my aggressive playstyle was hindering my team, despite it working out for me. We won, still behind on kills, just from getting Baron and pushing 4v5 while I split push.

The enemy got so nervous that my split push (on aatrox is amazing) would ruin them, so they continuously tried to catch me out, at the cost of several of their team members.
