These grades are confusing me

So I played with an Olaf who went 11/11/10, 2nd most deaths, 2nd fewest assists, and 2nd most kills. I mean he didn't feed or anything but he was hardly great. But yet one of my friends went 3/0/8 as support yesterday and got a B. So how does this grade thing work exactly?

It's based on how you played on that specific champion compared to other players on the same champion and also based on what lane you're playing in.
