Now let me clarify, I know I said some bad things here, but look at how many times I say "gj" and show positive attitude. In the Game 2, I was just messing with an enemy veigar, no hate there we were just messin around. Game 1, my computer randomly crashed when game started. My computer had recently gotten repaired for $280 so I thought it was fine. But when I finely could return the entire team ganged up on me and flamed on me like crazy. As you can see I TRIED to calmly apologize and explain what happened, but no. Then they accused me of trolling and doing this on purpose which was ridiculous, so I came back with some aggression. And thats when I got the restriction. I understand how frustrating it is when your 1 teammate short, but seriously I had no way of knowing it would do that, to my knowledge my computer was fine and the way they flamed on me was uncalled for. Game 3, Thresh was INSANELY toxic and refused to support me because I died once. I've been claiming that league hasn't been fun for me lately because of toxic behavior left and right, and I know that some things I said here were bad, but seriously man, 10 game chat ban seems HIGHLY unfair. I used bad language towards a player only a couple times, that is NOTHING compared to some of the behavior I have reported. Seriously rito, in a majority of my games I try to express positive behavior, and simply mute and report toxic people, even though I've been getting stuck with trolls, toxics, flamers, and throwers like CRAZY and having my games ruined. But this time, I get ganged up on and say 1 thing and I get punished?!?! Doesn't seem fair to me

Yikes. For whatever reason, you thought it'd be okay to call people a certain derogatory term that is indicative of homophobic comments. This type of speech is not accepted within League of Legends, but fortunately for you, it's only a chat restriction and not an account suspension. In addition to that, you use pretty explicit language to insult other players and disrespect family members, which is completely inappropriate.

In order to prevent future punishments, I advise you to review the Terms of Use, as well as follow the tips provided in the Behavior Worthy of a Champion article. You can be sure that if you continue to exhibit this sort of negative behavior, your punishments will escalate very quickly.

As I said, I know thats a bad thing to say, but I've seen people say things 20x worse and nothing happens. And regardless, the person I was talking to in the 2nd game, we were just messing with each other (he said things way worse). And again, thresh was being highly toxic too. It just seems to me that if I get restricted for a couple words, then why doesn't everybody?

Here are a few excerpts of the Reports: How Do They Work post that Riot released a while back:

We view aggregate report data as the collective voice of the playerbase and the main way the community defines and establishes standards of behavior. When reporting a player, you add your voice to that chorus. For example, report data shows the vast majority of players can’t stand racism, sexism and homophobia, and that’s why we tune systems to specifically target hate speech.

Reports are significant on a per-game basis because no one is punished on game data alone. So if there are no reports in a given game, the system assumes no one had a bad time, and there’s no reason to consider punishing a player. This means that if you play with a negative player and don’t report them, they won’t receive a punishment and likely won’t reform.

When a player’s reported, the instant feedback system collects all reports from the game and compares them with in-game data (statistics, chat, item builds, metrics from past games, etc.) to make a call on a whether or not to punish. If a player ends up punished, they receive a reform card (an in-client message calling out the punishment and evidence of the behavior that caused it). Even if no one is punished, the system stores the report and game info to better inform future decisions when players are reported again.

Each report is stored, such that even if a player isn't punished with that report, it's used to evaluate a player based on these reports for when they are reported again. This comes down to consistency and severity. If a player is consistently receiving justified reports for negative behavior and/or harassment, the system will intervene and apply a punishment if necessary.

The system takes into account (1) consistency and (2) severity, as the most heavily weighted factors. If other people are saying things that are 10x worse, then report them. The language you used was not acceptable, and any language that is 20x worse is also not acceptable. Being unaware of other players who are being punished is no reason for thinking you can get away with the behavior you exhibited.

generally, in my experience people dont care about "getting away with it" they care about the other guy getting away with it and not them. the problem is unless you get the popup. you assume the toxic player is both unbanned. and still recieving hextech loot. while you're in timeout.

the problem is tattletale sister paradox, the big brother doesnt necissarily care they got tattled on. but the sister was taunting the brother. and got away with it simply because she tattled before he did. and even if the little sister got grounded a week later for doing the same thing to the middle brother. the big brother didnt see it

In my experience caring about other people getting away with it is usually something people try to hide behind in an attempt to excuse their own misdeeds.

Your brother/sister analogy breaks down because in league the cases are judged independently. It doesn't matter who reported who first. There is no narrative established by the first person to report. Only an objective evaluation of what each person who got reported did.

The last I heard regarding the punishment system, Riot was looking at ways to improve the visibility of the behavior feedback reports. I don't have any specific links/resources to provide right now, but if I find it, I'll link it to you.

However, regardless of the feedback, my advice for players is to not let players dominate their thoughts for more than that game. Consistently negative players will be punished sooner or later, and there's really no point in being frustrated that someone wasn't punished and you were. Just work to improve yourself and become a better player, both in the social aspect and in the gameplay aspect.

what sucks right now is the behavioral visibility on the current system, where you don't a notification unless the game you reported was the one that got someone punished, not when it is building case (and we don't know if you'll get a notification when someone is just chat restricted).

But the good thing is, Riot is improving behavioral visibility. But we probably won't be able to see it until the new client is up and running smoothly.

That being said, focus on yourself and not others.

This is why you got reported and punished. I'm honestly surprised it wasn't escalated to a worse punishment than just a 10 game chat restriction. People have gotten 14 day and permanent bans for similar.

Again, I know it wasn't smart of me to say a couple of the things I said, but the issue is that toxic behavior is rampant in the league community, and about 90% of the time, I'm very positive. Even though I'm surrounded by toxic players. So yes, I report those toxic players, but it's like wack-a-mole. 1 gets reported and 10 more pop up. And for a player like me who tries to not be toxic and be positive (got a green ribbon to prove it), it's just really frustrating when I get punished for saying one or two bad words.
