Instead of Nerfing...

I randomly had an idea, and don't judge me completely, because I'm a strange person ;-; Instead of everything that gets put in the meta being nerfed to the ground so that they're never picked ever again (cough cough Kassadin cough cough) why doesn't riot buff the champions that have absolutely no pick rates at all, and are never ever touched? I completely understand that Rito is working on many of these champion's reworks, but could they at least get small little changes to try to spice them up in the mean time? Also, shifting meta champion's power to a lower level is often really frustrating for people who play these champions a lot, because they lose the ability to feel for the champion the way they once did. I just feel like little changes to champions that don't often receive love might sometimes be a better way of going about things. I understand that nerfing is important, but I think everyone in the community can agree that we don't want another Kassadin incident. Anyways, my point is, can we please get some more interesting gameplay from champions that don't have favour in the meta, and who are clearly struggling (cough cough Galio cough cough), instead of always jumping to the conclusion that we need to nerf Irelia? I dunno, just me thinking out loud I guess. Any thoughts? Id really love to hear Riot's stance on this, if you guys aren't too busy. ^.^

Well honestly those champs need reworks. Kass is pretty dead without his silence. I mean yah he can assassinate players but he's just not as consistent as he used to be. Galio, I don't really know enough about him.

The problem is that some kits are inherently boring or broken. By that, take for example the old Garen. He runs around, silences you, spins around, and has a kill steal ultimate. Either he does well because his numbers are high, or does poorly because his numbers are low. If he's too strong, there isn't much counterplay. If he's too weak, there isn't anything Garen can do.

This is why champions that cannot be balanced are not buffed. A champion like Galio would simply flash and ult and win if he were buffed. There's very little interaction.

Because nerfing champions makes balancing much easier. Buffing champions to viability takes a long time to actually come into effect unless they overdo it like Skarner while not solving what may be making a certain champion completely overpowered. So instead of buffing everyone to the champion that's completely overpowered they nerf the overpowered champion down to everyone else.

Reason why?

Did you see the Kass ban rate back in season 2 or any time he was a good pick?

in the wrong hands he is annoying

In the right hands there is almost nothing you can do about him.

They do. A lot. Literally every FOTM champion that has come out this season has been because Riot buffed an underplayed champion directly, indirectly, or both. Hi Sivir. Hi Sejuani. Hi Maokai. Hi Viktor. Hi Alistar. Hi Gragas.
