Will we ever get a hybrid offense/defense item again or no? Because all Atma's removal has done is reduce the amount of item diversity in the game, even if it wasn't used that often.
New offense/defense hybrid item for AD champs please Riot, AP casters have Zhonya's which provides offense and defense and now AD champs no longer have an item like that, even if it was a poor item in the first place.
I'm against removing items just for the lols. This is what Riot is doing right now. Sure, not many champions use sword of the divine & Atmas. But they exist. Twitch, Rengar, Sion, Volibear are a few that come to mind actually able to benefit from the items.
Why remove options? Do they make the engine too heavy or something ? This brings nothing but sadness to the players, the items aren't toxic or anything.
As for the original topic, bruisers still have 
& 
as examples of offensive defensive items VS AP; but whether they are good or not is a different story. 
AP champs have much lower base stats which is really the only reason zhonyas works
Atmas when it was good forced every bruiser to build it
