Let Leona proc her passive

I don't like Riot forcing champions into specific roles by taking away abilities if they don't go into those roles. Leona's passive is literally useless laning unless she duo lanes; I believe this is bad design and would create more diversity if she could proc her own passive, without buffing her as a supp. If Lux can proc her passive, why can't Leona?

EDIT: This really wouldn't affect bot lane Leona I don't think; at the least be a very minor buff. However it would make top or mid Leona much more viable, increasing diversity. Ignore the Lux argument.

If Lux can proc her passive, why can't Leona?

This right here is a bad argument. It's structure doesn't work and allows for the reverse to be said. If an ally can proc Leona's passive, why can't an ally proc Lux's? The balance between their kits is completely different, as they are different champions, and so Leona's passive would have to be balanced around any allied attacks procing it.

The rest of your post, however, is a legitimate concern. No champion should be forced into a single role. That's not to say they should be viable in other roles, however I personally believe every champion should have secondary, niche roles they can play.

Leona does have this already, as she can go top and mid with some level of success, however not every support is so lucky.

Your point is invalid because Leona is a support meant for a duo lane her passive is meant around being a support, thats like taking a assassin and complaining about shen not being strong in a duo lane with a support lol

Think about it this way instead: ONLY Lux can pop her passive. In early laning, yeah, it makes her trading really painful, but come teamfights, getting close enough to auto will probably get you killed. Leona's passive, on the other hand, can be safely detonated by your backline Caitlyn, who doesn't have to put herself in danger to do so.

That's more of an explanation of why Lux's passive doesn't work like Leona's, though; an answer to your direct question. I think that Leona probably should be able to proc her own passive; I personally want Leona jungle to be a lot more viable than it is; her ganks are ludicrous but her clears are glacial.

No.

This would be a very major buff to Leona. She's already insanely tanky, VERY sticky, and she does pretty good damage as is. This would be a huge buff to her dueling potential (in ANY role), not to mention a buff to jungling (where she's as problematic as Alistar when it comes to ganks.)

I've seen support Leonas carry harder than the carry in some cases (whom isn't even doing bad themselves.)

Leona mainly plays support but she can viable as mid too (fun ap build) , but your request want leona to "viable" on other lane to make leona to proc her passive is like a mini build in sheen , if you think any champ should needed to viable at a few role , would you agree me to buff janna and soraka damage so they can be "viable" in mid lane. I guess ppl will start crying and flaming how broken janna has burst damage , and a lot of cc and aoe ult heal can push of enemy and heal a lot and ungankable lane. Leona is just right in her place , as some utility mid laner also good as support , orianna , lulu , lux , morgana (kind of want a nerf on morg as it is quite ridiculous how strong and high base damage with a recently buff mana cost on q is quite instant death when she spam and hit one q although you already dodge a ton)
