The game is unplayabe around level 10-15

In the past it was already a problem, the gap between having tier 2 runes and not having tier 2 runes I ment tier 3 runes, but the keystone masteries made it basically that you can't win your lane if you are against someone who is lv.18+ if you are not. No matter what you do the enemy will outtrade you because they got that thunderlord's decree dealing another 50-100+ damage to you in every trade. it makes the lanes really unbalanced.

It would be better if there was a queue lv. 17- and lv. 18+ so that people with keystones get matched with other people that have keystones, since keystones have such a huge impact and it makes the game unfun for those who don't have them and have to face people with these masteries.

The leveling system for League of Legends is and has remained a very archaic concept that really doesn't actually aid the player in learning content and in fact actually hinders new players with the way it was implemented.

Honestly, they should just ditch the entire system completely and instead gate players from being able to play ranked by forcing them to have a specific number of runes owned and a minimum requirement of champions owned. Perhaps even including a specific requirement for games played if you really have to go there (with the previously mentioned conditions I personally don't think that would be required).

An example on how the Rune gating could work would be =:

The player must own the following T3 Runes:

9 T3 glyphs 9 T3 Seals 18 T3 Marks 6 T3 Quints.

They absolutely would also have to make a number of games played requirement. Otherwise someone can just IP boost to quickly buy the runes and just buy all the champs with RP and show up in ranked after playing for a couple weeks. And yes, some people do drop money on the game at the start.

True, I had entirely forgotten that IP boosters were actually a thing.

Games played is the only good measure. It is a measurable and specific goal. After 100-200 games, a player knows the basics and is prepared for ranked. They can play the game and may succeed or fail of their own accord. Once they've played those matches, and have enough champions for draft pick, then they should be able to play ranked. If they're good, they'll shoot up. If not, they'll join the many other bronzes who still need practice. I would say asking for 75-100 wins is the fairest way to ensure some measure of competence when they join ranked.

Ranked already does a great job of weeding out skilled/unskilled players. No need to add levelling to try and do the same. More people can play ranked if levelling is removed; percentage distributions will remain similar in each tier. I don't think runes are even necessary for ranked; ignoring them puts you at a disadvantage in the first place and causes you to linger lower on the ladder.

Honestly, 100-200 matches and 16 champions is all one actually needs to play ranked competently. The ELO system is absolutely fantastic because you rank up when you play well and down when you play poorly. It doesn't penalize you for poor performance history and doesn't play favourites either. Improvement is rewarded quickly and fairly. Ranking encourages the same things levelling does, but so much more efficiently. Why waste time forcing players to do more than grasp the basics?

If they are playing poorly, their ELO goes down more than it goes up. If they play well, their ELO goes up faster than down.

I disagree. Do they give an advantage? Yes. Do they determine the outcome? No. I trashed plenty of level 30's while still under 15 (they queued with lower level friends). That's tier three runes full masteries, and still they lose. It gives the other player an advantage, but its not a free win.

you dont even buy tier 2 runes, what. wait to buy tier 3. but the masteries does give them an edge not a free win.

You know that you can get 100% exp till about lv 20-21 from intermediate bots right?

Who buys Tier 2 runes?

T1 and T2 runes are really cheap. 5 and 15 IP each iirc. Anyway, if they buy those runes, they get put behind for getting T3 runes. If they don't buy those runes, they get significant disadvantage until level 20.

I've been lvling a second account since preseason so I understand that it sucks. However, my best advice to newer players is to look at it like this: This is the perfect opportunity to practice and learn how to play against stronger opponents. It's not always easy to gauge an opponents strength and skill in the middle of a game but with Keystones you can press tab and immediately know they are stronger. The trick is to take that knowledge and try to find ways to work around it. I can all but guarantee you it will be hard and frustrating but if you can learn to not lose, or even win, against stronger opponents you will come out of the experience a significantly better player. The thing about this game is that the skill cap is so unbelievably high that your summoner lvl has very little to do with how good you are at the game. You will still be learning till your lvl 30 and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond that! XD

So good luck on the rift and try to have fun! :D

Good point. It would make the game a lot more fair to break up the queue like this.

Riot doesn't seem to care about the new player experience as it's the mots awful experience I've had the misfortune of experiencing.

It's silly that this game has a grind element at all regarding runes.

I think keystones are really the tipping point.

One player who has a keystone has a major advantage vs a player who doesn't even have access.

I'm not even going to go into runes b/c I think they should be removed from the game completely.

i thought keystones added to the new player experience. before you needed to be lvl 21 to fill out a tree which was something you got close to getting your second quint and teir 3 runes. that stacks a bunch of power in just a 2 lvls. now you get a keystone earlier to play with for a bit.

i also i think its important for player growth to play with people who are a higher lvl, i know not everyone agrees with that, but i feel like if you have been vs people with keystones and you just hit lvl 18 you have an idea of which ones you want to try and you probably feel stronger on that lvl. that seems like a alot of positive progression.

i should also point out that teir 1 runes are super cheap and with the way the rune caps work you can get up to 32 teir 1s for less then the price of ashe and still be able to buy every teir 3. just to give you some early stats to play with.

I get the matchmaking can be awful, but you are not going to get better at this game constantly being put at people with the same skill level as you.
