Multiple, Mutually-Exclusive Flash Variants

tl;dr: Have multiple types of flash, but limit players to only selecting one per game.

As of right now, it is just accepted that everyone carries flash as one of their summoner spells outside of some very niche cases. The versatility of flash is high enough that it is either required or that it is nerfed into non-use, and Riot has balanced around the prior. This then has the effect that summoner spell variety is very low.

What I'm proposing is that Riot implements multiple flash-like spells with the stipulation that players may only take one per game. I think that this would add some interesting diversity for players to leverage. The key is that the spells would have to be locked so that players may not abuse taking more than one. If balanced improperly, the worst issue I can foresee would be a situation like now were one flash-like spell becomes mandatory like now.


As to possible variations, I have ideas for two possible situations:

>Possible implementation 1: Distance and CD

>1) A flash with a shorter distance and shorter CD 2) Current flash 3) A flash with a longer distance and longer CD

. >Possible implementation 2: Additional Effects

>1) current flash + short movespeed boost after 2) current flash + shield after 3) current flash removed
