What is the reasoning behind requiring a lock in?

Not a long rant, just hoping for a reason behind it. So far, all I've noticed are longer queue times and punitive actions because a lot of ppl forget to click a button that would have seemingly no effect on the game.

There is no reason.

Ideally, because it requires attentiveness throughout the queuing process resulting in less afks in game.

Problematically this means that although queue times are on average shorter than before, we don't FEEL like they're shorter because instead of paying 10% attention to finding a game, we have to pay 80% attention. So it feels much much worse.
