Horrible in pvp

Is it smart move playing Champions like Ryze,Karthus or Thresh without proper knowledge of other champions and game mechanics?

I am still learning PvP,played maybe 50 pvp games in total on this account and around 50 on another.

I really love those champions with high skill cap,but i fail so horribly with them.I have feeling like i am holding my team back by playing them and i have feeling like i won't get used to those champions like ever.

I would really like if i could carry games as Ryze,Thresh and Karthus because i love mechanics and skins those champions have, but its not going well.

I can do solid with champions like Karma,Kassadin,Swain (sometimes) and Brand and i carried some games with them, but i do not like them that much.

Any advices?

Play easy champs for a bit, so you get used to watching the map often and have the presence of mind to keep an overview. Then ramp the skill requirement of your champion, trying to keep those big picture skills going while freaking out over getting the micro right. Then work up from there.

I learned the game playing nothing but Singed. My micro still sucks, but I ended up a decent support player.

don't play ranked with these champs and try out PvP in blind pick/normal drafts.

You do not get better if you don't play pvp so don't worry about how bad you may do. I have recently taken up karthus and have played ~20 games with him. farming is easy with him but I had a problem of getting his q to hit the enemy laner. I'm fine now (average ~10 kills a game if not more) but it was a painful start. Just don't expect to have a low death count as to be the most effective you need to be in the middle of a team fight and lets face you will get focused.
