The KDA needs to go, its 2016

Keeping score in a team game with defined roles like this is VERY toxic, ESPECIALLY in solo Q. It actually hurts intelligent gameplay, and is counter intuitive (something which riot is against, barrier to learning I think is their term, where something is too hard to understand for beginning players).

More often then not, people not only chase kills, but also say "hey look i'm not doing bad as [insert random tank support here] because I never died, AND I have the most kills"

Here is a PSA: as a tank or a support you should IDEALLY die more than other lanes for the following reasons :

  1. Tanks are supposed to (for the most part) intiate, meaning you will be going in first, and taking damage Not dying is counter productive in a sense, as a tank, since it is your job to...come close to dying (ideally not die, but in a completely "balanced game" 3-4 of your own team members should die after the first team fight, since everyone is playing optimally. I understand this is not how the game works, especially in solo Q or with certain team comps, but just speaking theoretically in an even skilled game, both teams should be scoring kills in team fights).

  2. Supports are supposed to have the least items. It doesn't make sense for a support to take lane gold, in an IDEAL game (note that I do take gold as a support, in order to carry bad team members). However, ideally supports should have LESS gold than other members of the team, hence they will have less stats. In general, they should be the EASIEST member of the team to kill.

Too often I see people using score as a means to justify their horribly inefficient play. "If I sit back and KS as x support or HP building tank, im helping my team!!" no, you are just trying to get a good score. Honestly, this is one of the things heros of the storm did right. KDA should not be shown in solo Q untill the match is over.

I am sure there are less toxic stats which can be recorded during the game, which help players learn how to win games, and not just show off or try to boost their own egos in solo Q

In my opinion, killing sprees, penta kills, double kills ETC all serve to give people a false sense of playing well as well. It encourages people to chase kills they probably otherwise shouldnt, which can lead to the other 4 smart players on the team possibly losing the game.

I realize that riot runs on making the game as addicting as possible in order to maximize profits, however, I believe the long term health of the game will be stronger if this issue is addressed, and I believe that it is actually in riot's best interest to not show KDA in ranked solo Q. Leave it in normals and team ranked, thank you.

TL:DR Please remove KDA in game, and display it only on the end game score screen.

KDA shouldn't be the main method of deciding a player's performance. In reality, a much improved point system based on what we have in dominion would be much more beneficial and much more accurate. Warding, healing, defending/taking towers, etc. are nice. But they don't really get much if any credit in the end. KDA is by far the most looked at stat and is seemingly the biggest factor in the champion mastery system. It shouldn't be. It should be secondary to an overall performance score as it doesn't tell what really happened in a game.

this is a joke right

Well... that's a novel idea: players care about KDA too much, so don't display the stat! The thing is: it doesn't matter if KDA is a worthwhile statistic to display or not. If RIOT doesn't display the stat, then third party sites still will, because players want to know their KDA. So, it doesn't make sense to remove the statistic. Moreover, even if KDA can be misleading when compared cross-class, it can still be an indicator within a particular class.

of course, now what you see is that if you played smart and didn't feed and tried to be a team player, at the end of the game, the smarter boosters and such will then feed your feeder team kills and hunt you down in order to "even everyone out"

that way, they can come back to you with ...but the kda bruh, since nobody is going to watch your game, all they will see is the kda.

As for supports, RIOT DID A REAL SCREW JOB TO LOW ELO ADC's, now the trols wills just pick any champ, claim it's new meta, take gold, and leave in the first 5 minutes to "group mid"

In higher elo's they work together more and are less able to get away with shit like this

What i'm saying is, at pretty much all elo's before masters, it is a pretty cancerous stat to have recorded while in game. After the game is over, it is fine to look at KDA. But during the game, it is very misleading to a majority of players who do not comprehend what actually wins games (objectives).

For example, just last game I played, I was auto attacking a turret. I saw a mundo coming , and a Zac. I had a choice; do I try to escape, or do I try and finish the turret and give my team the advantage? Well, my KDA is going to suffer if I kill the turret right? So I should back off and play safe!! No, actually, in this case, since my turret was still at full health, I chose to suicide in order to get the turret. I ended up killing the turret with literally my last auto attack, backing and finishing a Hextech Gunblade which I didnt have the combine cost for.

We ended up winning the game, and I know it was small plays like this that win the game, and it is usually the case. But I do not want to get trolled by some noob who thinks I made a bad choice because my KDA suffered.

Please remove KDA in game, and display it only on the end game score screen.

It shouldn't be the main factor to determine skill, but is rather a partial indicator.

Ahem, didn't they all tell you that you can't judge how well supports/tanks do by numbers alone? Please tell me you are actually trolling.

while i totally agree on your intention - you need the metrics ingame so you can take an educated guess about how much gold your opponents has when you think about your options. (though for supports you´re wrong, most of them either have insane base-survivabilty or are so far back in fights that it´s really hard to kill them most of the time, also they´re rarly priority targets).

So it´ll still need to come down to individual players playing to win or playing for KDA, like it always has been.

If they replace it, they might have to replace it with "Gold earned" or something, so you can check how much gold the enemy (and your teammates) have. That's not an insignificant change though. I suppose it would only update if you have vision of the character, in order to prevent people using it to track the enemy jungler.

All those people who down voted this need to be temporarily banned for ignoring this.

You can already see the tier of the bounty you'll get from killing opposing players (and for your teammates). It's displayed next to the health bar.

This isn't HoTS, okay buddy? Go back to your HoTS and get out of here. Your suggestion will not make everyone suddenly not toxic and I personally enjoy viewing my KDA and damage dealt etc at the end of a game too. Go away.

There is no doubt that Riot uses shitty methods to make their games addicting (just look at the new hex-tech crafting), but KDA has nothing to do with it, its just a stat.
