Preventing Smurfing In Clash Via SMS?

Is that a joke? My phone currently has 3 different phone numbers. And even if you did prevent VOIP's.

Consider this .... we all have relatives that have cell phone's who don't play League. Currently, in my household ... we have a 3 cell phone to 1 league player ratio. So now I can put 3 accounts into Clash if I wanted to.

If you want to prevent Smurfing .... use a IP / MAC address combo.

If IP is the same for multiple accounts .... Then is Mac Address also the same? Sure, there are some problems with this method also ... but they are far fewer than your "SMS" system.

You know you can spoof a mac address right? And doing so makes a router hand over a new IP address?

If you think this is to prevent 100% of all folks who want to smurf clash then you have a unrealistic expectation. Its to make it more difficult and thus lower the number of people doing it. SMS in this regard works adequately well to weed out a lot of folks.

Its to prevent the frequency of smurfing there's just no way to totally prevent all forms smurfing apart from having folks game in person at physical locations. Even with IP, I could for example go over to my buddy's house down the road and clash on his account and no one would really be the wiser. There will be exploits and folks taking advantage of them but that alone is not good reason to abandon the attempts to lower the frequency of it.
