Wait why are the gold runes so bad

The marks give 0.25 gold every 10 seconds Doing math, that's 30 extra gold at 20 minutes.

The quintessences give 4 times as much Doing math, that's 120 extra gold at 20 minutes.

Why are the gold runes so bad?

because Riot is a Lazzez Faire Capitalist System and want to disincentivize Wellfare runes

Because they were balanced around season 1-2-3 and were supposed to generate just enough gold to basically allow supports to build pink wards if they decided to run these runes without taking from the natural gold generation since back then supports were basically warding machines and ended the game with just a few items if they were lucky, they never have been touched since then. Right now they're completely pointless.

120x3=360 30x9=270 adding the two together nets 630g at 20 minutes. At 40 minutes it's over 1k gold.

They come from a time when games lasted longer.

Where did you get the numbers from my friend

I used your own numbers, plus i've done this math before.

Explain your process

one gold gen yellow grants .25 g/10

you can have 9 gold gen yellows.

one quint grants 1g/10.

you can have 3 quints.

that's a total of 5.25g/10.

At 20 minutes into the game that's about 630 gold. At 40 minutes it's about 1260 gold.

But 630 will barely be able to afford anything though at 20 minutes, you can only buy 2 daggers, and it won't even buy you tier 2 boots. SO why is so worth running instead of having the stats you could get from other runes?

Is pretty much the answer. At 40 minutes they gold they generated can be worth more than twice the gold value of a normal rune set, but the thing is that nowadays games end before the runes can become viable.

Maybe they should work like a cull, generate gold and then stop at a certain point.

So then the runes need to be buffed and gold/10 itemization needs to be increased.

To be perfectly honest, support itemization SHOULD be based around passive gold generation and passives that grant increased stats over time. Elisas miracle, heart of gold, and avarice blade were GREAT support items.
