new masteries work well with Sona.
I literally love the new masteries on Sona. i get about 23 mana regen per second at level 18 on full build which is insane.
Mastery tree i use is 0/18/12
that's all i can say for Sona players :D

Or, you could just buy a chalice and never run out of mana...

um, i have Athene's Unholy Grail and Mikeal's Crucible which both build from the chalice FailFish
I was wondering. I haven't seen a lot of info on Sona 5.22.
What is your build path right now? How is Sheen/LB on her now?
Basically there are a lot of small changes that all helped Sona be useful again:
The Windspeaker's mastery is really good on her (probably one of the best to use this on other than the obvious Raka pick), base mana regen was buffed, along with mana regen buffs for the Spellthief line, which you can now combine with Sightstone to make a slot efficient AP Support Sightstone (
).
is really cheap and lets Sona extend a lead if you get one.
Sheen's cost was reduced at the cost of it's AP, but now that it's cheaper it's more accesible to Sona early on; another benefit is that Lich Bane now gives 10% cdr and I think more movement speed.
My build goes something like

I think he meant that one chalice item is enough.

Since you don't seem to understand what a Unique Passive is, I'll explain it to you.
A Unique Passive is an effect that will only apply to you a single time, even if you were to build it more than once. If that Passive has a name, like Mana Font for example, even if 2 items have separate names, but the same Unique Passive, you still only get it once.
In other words, you need to stop building Athene's and Mikael's together. I suggest Morello's over Athene's. Or a better suggestion: stop playing Sona until Rito until she's actually a playable character again. I have an increasing number of countless first-hand accounts that people get reported just for playing her.
If you're playing Sona as a healer who pokes at times, you're doing it wrong. Sona makes a good lane bully, who happens to be able to heal.
I've never played Sona like that and since Rito removed her from the game in patch 4.13, I just outright don't play her anymore at all. Despite previously being a Sona main before that. Kinda hard to play something that just isn't there anymore, Sona is essentially the same as Force of Nature, Runic Bulwark, Sword of the Occult... she doesn't exist anymore. Exactly how Rito wanted it to be.
I use Mana regen runes, and never need a chalice anymore. With the buffs to base mana regen, you only get low on mana if you need to spam heals. I only get 2.5 Mana/5 from runes, I don't go a full set, and it works perfect on most mage supports.
At this point I am only building chalice when VS Cait and a poke/mage support Nomicon got hit pretty hard too, but I still prefer getting the 20% CDR much faster then Athenes
It should work with other supports like Janna, Karma, Soraka and Nami too
It should work with other supports like Janna, Karma, Soraka and Nami too
So you're saying you made this thread, its title and the original post with a biased intent specifically aimed at spiting Sona players, despite knowing your propaganda goes two-fold for every other support in the game that isn't Sona.
Duly noted.
Just wondering, you use Windspeaker's as keystone mastery? I guess it kinda boosts her utility, though I rather play her with Thunderlord's, because this boosts her burst and harrass in lane wich work's pretty well with her imo.
Windspeaker upgrades her W massively, since its both a heal and shield. So I get Windspeaker myself.
For allies, but not for herself wich is kinda a downturner for me imo.. Of course its great for life saving allies but dunno.
The heal and shield are still boosted 10%. She just doesn't get the bonus resists. And there's the 8% bonus heals and shields on you in the Resolve tree. Her self healing is probably pretty decent now.
nah, the 10% on shields and heals are also only applied on allies.
if the 10% boost would work on the caster as well, it's worth considering, but rn it's not really favorable for me
From the client:
Your heals and shields are 10% stronger. Additionally, your shields and heals increase your target's resistances by 15% for 3 seconds when used on an ally other than yourself.
I'm going to believe the client's description.
ingame version says the same thing about the keystone mastery. it's only boosted for allies, and the one in the client worded it pretty weirdly/wrong

It doesn't matter what you want to believe. It only matters how it ACTUALLY works. Test it for yourself and you'll know for certain which is right.

I build FQC, then Sighstone, then Ardent, followed by the Lucidity boots, Athene's Unholy Grail and Mikael's Crucible

cheerleader sona is worthless just build full damage

nah, building full damage drastically reduces my mana regen so I'm not gonna do that

you dont need mana regen if you chase down their 15 kill adc with 700 move and 100-0 him for your team

All the mana regen you need:
Anything past this is redundant, tbh. I'm not even taking sides, since I build a Banner and Zeke's whenever I play Sona (or skip it and go Morello's when I'm being greedy). 150% mana regen is just really damn good.

So do you go Windspeaker's or do you go Thunderlord's? When I do team builder, everyone is hot ass so I'm having trouble discerning the good ideas from the great ideas. Windspeakers HAS saved my carries in multiple near-death scenarios, and it makes the heal/shield on everyone except me pretty considerable, even when they eat a strong hit. Still, Thunderlord's would be REALLY easy to proc on Sona...so I'm at a crossroads...
What do you use?

definitely thunderlords
it makes up for some of sonas damage nerfs
How are the new items treating Sona? I would have figured the Support item changes would have been a great boon for poke supports.
