Is matchmaking broken?

I thought I was going to finally escape bronze than other day, when I got the worst teams ever. 7 games of ranked in a row my team fed. and died. and we're not good. at all. So, that being said, and me being now in bronze III, how does league make their matchmaking? It seems like it's been such a long time since a game (ranked or norms) was not extremely lopsided to one team. Ranked especially feels open its either slaughter or get slaughtered. Thoughts?
