Do you think Season 7 will "revive" League?

Hi, first off, I know some of you might disagree when i say that LoL is dying. But I'm not lying when I say Season 6 was the first season I did not enjoy playing that much, and many other players think so too. The game just feels dead, when I see 250K people streaming the Worlds Quarterfinals and when I see 10 online friends on average, which used to be like 20-25 in S5. I think especially these guys who had been playing League for a long time want to quit playing.

But do you think Season 7 will kinda "revive" League? I know, we are not 100% sure what exactly is going to be added in the future, but especially the changes to ranked system will have a huge impact in the way that some people will start to take rankeds seriously again. And then there will be a lot of gameplay changes, like a jungle update, support items update. As well you should consider the Assassin update. I'm really interested in your thoughts about this one :)

As somebody who plays competitive games that are actually kind of dead (like ~200 total world wide active players) any game that has fucking millions of players doesn't need to be revived.

The level cognitive distance between the actual state of the game and people's views on it is insane.

As long as Mages aren't nerfed too much over season 7, I can actually enjoy the game

S6 was probably the best season so far, and S7 looks even better.

As I've said before, people have been crying about the death of League while it was still in BETA, and I'm not even talking about one or two people, but rather groups numbered in the tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands. You have doomsayers like this all the time, but it's its own cult here in League.

League has taken a few hits in the past year because of the increasing influx of troll players sabotaging every other game, the issues with Dynamic Queue, and the advent of big competition like Overwatch, along with the subculture of drones that will only play whatever is the most popular at the moment or whatever their favorite Youtuber/Streamer plays, but it's not going anywhere anytime soon. By the way, you're also basing this information off of extremely specific, limited, and faulty "research", and I already spend too much time fighting against fallacies and bullshit in real life to try and fact check and refute even a thousandth of every claim and supposition made here.

I'll personally be playing it alot more since I won't be forced to play with/against premades every other game.

The game isn't dead, far from it. Issue is people spend too much time on LCS trying to play LIKE them and get angry that they can't climb the ladders. I've been with League since the day I.Es use to stack and playing crit plank was really a one hit parley hurt your soul.

Many people just don't want to accept change or stick with the same old cookie cutter builds. Or you get the people that get angry because they can't pull off what other people seem to do so well. As far as the seasons go, yes this last season wasn't the best, but didn't stop me from going through the ranks. As for as Assassin world goes I'm mostly a top or support in general. Only people who are butthurt about it was the people who can ONLY play assassin roles.

There are a few problems.

  1. A lot of people left because of the horrible decisions involving Matchmaking and Riot forcing everyone to use it. The current matchmaking system is not a measure of individual skill it is a measure of how many people one person can que with. People just got tired of waiting for them to fix it and Riot continued to make false promises, lie about solo que, and do nothing about it. Riot deserved it. Don't be a bunch of liers and try to force something down the communities throat when we outright tell you something is bad. They go ahead and do it. Riot doesn't care.

  2. Riot changed way too much all at once. It left half of the season feeling like the game was in beta and other elements were not properly balanced. It took Riot five to six months to balance the broken ADC champions and items associated with them. It took them 3 months to nerf Malz. Riot doesn't care.

  3. The game is still very outdated. 3 VGU a year is not enough for the amount of work that needs to be done. Riot doesn't understand this. There are champions sitting on very small art or kit updates, because Riot feels the need to redue everything in their kit . . . . . when the kit is not bad or the art is not bad. They need more people working on different parts of the champion updates . . . . that don't need a lot of updating . . . . . because a VGU every six months means that they will not be doing anything to a lot of champions.

  4. Riot needs to stop lying and shoving things down our throats. They need to communicate much more and commit to an idea the community will like. Champion balance and updating should be their primary focus, but here we are in another year where they feel the client needs to take top priority over everything else in the game . . . and they use that as an excuse for not working on this champion . . . . or doing this for the game. I mean there are champions being forced to wait on skins because they only do 3 VGU a year.

As long as the Assassin's would actually live up to being what they're suppose to be, assassins, then yeah, this season could revive league.
