I'm glad I got to Gold before the MYMU

Not that I think it's going to ruin mages completely or anything, but it's going to be difficult to get a read on the power level of the reworked champs and the reworked and new items. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about my MMR tanking while people try new builds or play champions they don't realize were reworked.

How does everyone else feel about such a large update coming in the middle of the season?

I think calling it a Mid Year Mage Update is only half-true. It's really a Mid Year Mage BUFF THE HELL OUT OF ALL OF THEM.

Yeah, it's going to be mages every game until the Assassin changes/buffs/reworks.

I think it's a relief if you managed to get to your goal before MYMU, but if you haven't reached your goal (and particularly if you are close), then it can be very worrisome to have big changes because of not knowing how the changes will ultimately affect you. Personally, I'm not worried about it.
