The problem with Yasuo

So I know many people hate Yasuo , and trust me this isn't just another "Yasuo is broken plz nerf", Post I will admit that I am a Yasuo main (Please don't get out the pitchforks), I'm not some meta slave playing him just because he's overloaded or your stereotypical super toxic Yasuo main who thinks he can solo carry, I just love his design and playstyle, He could be the worst character in the game and i'd still love him, In fact I was glad when he was indirectly nerfed during patch 8.11 I personally agree that Yasuo is indeed too strong and hardly ever falls off, But I'm going to talk about why I think that is and what can be done to change that

I know Yasuo has been a problem for a long time and riot seems to be ignoring it as they stated that they don't plan to change him anymore (From what I know), I'm sure you all know what Yasuo's abilities are, I'll talk about the ones people say are problems, and the save the one I think is the problem for last

First off, his third Q, some people think this is a problem and that a melee champ shouldn't have a ranged ability, I personally don't agree, The tornado isn't as easy to land as some might think and I think it's a fine ability and it can be dodged easily Next his is E, some think this is a problem because it gives him a lot of mobility, I don't really agree with this either, There are plenty of characters that can keep him locked down and his dash scales with movement speed so slows shut him down too, People such as Riven, Darius, Nasus, Xin, Malphite, Malzahar, ect, Can shut him down Plus his E has a cool down on targets so I think this ability is fine as well

This is one people really don't like, his w, it's a windwall that pretty much deletes projectiles from existence, Now yes this ability can be annoying and I do think it can be a problem when he puts a few points in, I think at early levels this ability isn't much of a problem, Sure it can be annoying but it has a rather small width and the cool down is 26 seconds, You'll be able to hit him with two rounds of spells before he can block one, But when maxed out I think the width is too big and it becomes too powerful of a tool

Next is his R, What people seem to hate is the bonus armor penetration, the reset on his flow, and the fact that it suspends you, In my opinion the flow reset is fine, the suspension is annoying but it's not terrible, I don't think it's super op because it can be hard to set up and it allows for outplays, But then there's the bonus armor penetration, That is the main problem in my opinion which gets into what I think makes this champ so strong and unfun to fight

His passive, His two passive that is, I don't think there is any problem with Resolve, it gives him a shield but it can be poked away, The problem is intent and I think the double crit chance is just ridiculous and the damage reduction isn't enough to make up for it yeah Yasuo can be unfun to fight but he has counters, he can be outplayed (Which is why people don't consider him a huge problem in high elos), I think it's merely the damage he can output as i've 3 shot people as him thanks to the Intent passive, Once he gets phantom dancer it just feels like game over (Talking from the perspective of people who've fought him)

I hate the amount of damage in this game as much as the next person and despite being a Yasuo main I don't like crit as a mechanic at all, But let's save that for another day Now that I've listed off what I think is the main problem with Yasuo I'm going to give ideas on what I'd like to see changed I think they could either rework his W and remove the intent passive to make him more of a proper bruiser But I think the best idea would be if they just removed the intent passive and (Maybe) give him a slight boost in AD to make up for it without touching the rest of his kit (They could also reduce the armor pen on his ult to 25% or even lower, i'd say somewhere between 25-10% is good, obviously without it needing crit anymore, It might still be too much but it gives him outplay potential and can help in sticky situations, Although i wouldn't mind it much if they just removed that part of his ult or reduced the time down to ten seconds or even less) I've seen Yasuo without crit items in his build and honestly it's not that bad, he still does a decent amount of damage but nowhere near the insane amount he does now, I'd really like it if these changes were implemented

So that's about it, I gave my opinions on his abilities and what I think is the main problem, as well s how it could be fixed What about everyone else? Which of these ideas do you like more? Do you have any ideas of your own? And what do you think is fine about him or what is wrong with him? I really love this champ, but I agree he is too strong and could use some changes (It's also because I'd like him to be banned less so I can actually play him)

I hope I can start a dicussion about it and avoid things such as people just calling Yas mains toxic and calling him op without explaining why [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Edit: i've thought about it some more, I think his wall should only block things after it's moved all the way forward, it can also block things from the side which I don't think is fair, and I think it should be more of a damage reduction rather than deleting things from existence, I also think his E could use a longer cool down, a cool down before he can cast it again in general, rather than a longer cool down before it can be casted on the same target, I think maybe 2 seconds or even more would be good

I'm the opposite. My problem is playing against him is like playing against an anime protag with plot armor.

His Resolve shield is bullshit, giving him free HP and defensive stats with no input from the Yasuo player whatsoever, despite him supposed to be a high skill champ. His R being proc'd off of teammate displacement is also bullshit, as it's a get-out-of-not-having-enough-skill-to-land-Q free card. His W not starting where he places it is also bullshit as it blocks things he really shouldn't. Same can be said of his E-3rdQ to a lesser extent.

Don't even get me started on his ulti placing him out of turret range for no reason.

Yasuo carries the player playing him too much. That's my problem with yasuo.

I would have no problem with the champion if his windwall didnt exist.

Delet Yasuzoe

Ya, Im mostly okay with yasuo`s windwall and tornado q, until he uses his E to force it to land on me (leading to the R and invariably the armor ignoring crits.)

Other than that, my only real issue with yasuo is when death recap tells me he has done over 900 mixed damage with his E...(riot fix recap plz)

As Yasuo fan

Most of what you mentioned isn't fine

His Q is actually a very strong dps ability that also has aoe cc that is a knock up with a very high damage in mid game+ But fine ,let's say this is fine

His E and W are both problematic His E shouldn't let him perma dash , even if it has 6 seconds cd on the same target His W shouldn't be like that ,at least it shouldn't block what already went though the wind wall animation and the wall is thick , more than the animation , fixing those will make his W less problematic

His R is the only real balanced ability in his kit to be honest " to be honest I was excited for his ult buff , but they should nerf other parts in his kit " I don't think it's a problem for an Ultimate to have armor pen and some cc and gap close However if it's gonna get nerfed , the cd is what should get nerfed , it's frustrating to play against him , he kills you , then recalls , come back to lane in mid game and he has his ult again , this shouldn't be a thing

The thing about Yasuo , he is very popular , they can't directly nerf him because you know , he is the most popular champion in the game

What if idk for his windwall cus its design is cool but also outrageous for me play vel lol or lux, all skill shots/projectiles that go through windwall are only slowed and not deleted. So if he is ensured to get hit by let's say LeBlanc qr he can't just since all both negate her dmg and kill her but instead slow it so he can escape and trade after a bit knowing her it's down. Idk it gives more counterplay on both sides and doesn't just give yas a free fuck you to more than 80% of the skills in the game for his whole team. Even if it isn't used that way currently it still has that potential which I hate.

What if they changed the intent passive so its like panth e passive or something but scaling. If an enemy is below 15%(level 1) to 45%(level18) your autos and q's will always crit. This way has doesn't have to change his playstyle too much his builds don't have to be locked in to crit first usually and it helps in the long run for bruiser making due to infin edge purchase would still do true dmg. This also prevents him from having a high early crit chance luck fight because his zeal gave 30% and he crit on each attack he could level 6.

Other than that he's fine in every possible way because he has counter picks and people always ban him anyways but somehow people find a way to ask for him to be deleted. What's next? Like if has gets deleted and they find another champ to perms ban the same question arises. Also riot where is my godamn cosmic wanderer yasuo and dark star riven skins. The themes would fit so well and make sense to their connected lore. I didn't get why riven was dawnbringer and yasuo nightbringer. Like its essentially confirmed yasuo was forced to leave due to riven using wind blade techniques to kill putting fault on yasuo. Maybe they wanted yasuo to keep his edgy weeb feel. Just kidding. Well toodaloo.

I acutally like yasous windwall that so many people hate because its an actual answer to people who sit 400+ range away and click you whether its right click or left click after a letter. I hate that as a melee champion i cant out damage him because he has an extra 100% crit chance from items while only losing 10% crit damage. He has a free shield for no reason he has tons of cc and mobility. I have a problem that his ult saves him from tower but the biggest problem i have is Yasou like all certiantly T champs have no down time to exploit to fight them. 3 seconds is not sufficent down time you cant walk up to some one that fast even if they were standing still as a melee champion none the less some one also kiting out for their abilities. our out damageing you auto for auto because they crit or apply a stacking bleed. if yasou dies because he didnt build 2 or more defensive items hes underpowered but any other fighter except fiora and riven of course does the same thing they get slammed with should have built defenses. until 5 of your slots are pure defensive items and your 5th slot is a defense offense item. Ah yes yasous ult doesnt need armor pen at all its already massive damage and cc if you want to keep the armor pen it should have a cooldown the level of aatrox's ult or orrns ult. instead of slightly less than the cooldown of lux ulting twice

Śhunpo10/17/2018, 10:18:28 PM1 votes

Conqueror shouldn't apply its true damage to bonus critical strike damage. That is all.

I would focus on that doubled crit chance passive, I would honestly switch that over to a set percent increase at different levels ( for example lv 4 10% lv 8 20% lv 12 30 etc) that E could probably use some work as well as you mentioned earlier, just my thoughts.

The problem with removing the double crit chance from yas is that people will build him as a bruiser which would be even more cancerous. item 3078 item 3153 item 3053 item 3022 item 3065

Also, in bronze, yasuo winrate is 53% (you have to learn how to play against him), Silver Wr is 51.34%, a bit lower as ppl start to learn, Gold he dips below 50% to 49.73%, fairly balanced. Plat he's 48.36 and diamond he's @ 47.99%, Masters he bumps back up slightly above 48%, but in challenger he goes all the way down to 42% winrate.

Honestly it sounds like right now he's about as close to being perfectly balanced as he's ever gonna be.

Source for winrate #s is u . gg - https://u.gg/lol/champions/yasuo/build/?rank=master

There is no Problem with yasuo, just look at him in other servers. Other servers love him. in game hes a fun champion to play. If you dont know how to play against him and get destroyed by him, that is your own undoing. Most people think hes busted or unfair since they cant wrap their heads around him.

CIayman10/17/2018, 4:55:01 AM1 votes

The problem with yasuo is that he's a hypercarry and just a meme and there is no problem

Dubledox10/17/2018, 7:47:43 PM1 votes

Quality post! I would like add one counter to your list. I hated laning against Yasuo until I discovered that Swain counters him quite nicely. Poke out his shield. Harass with Q. Pull Yasin with E when he goes for obvious Q's. Don't care about windwall because all of your abilities but E ignore it anyway. He is very frustrating to play as many champs, but everybody has bad matchups. Just group and focus him down in teamfights.

GodlyBane10/17/2018, 7:56:01 PM1 votes

Yasuo isnt even meta rn. I traded him out for kassadin/ the jungle role bc Yasuo is hardly even a champ anymore after the removal of ie

Edit: also if they removed windwall, Yasuos might as well be deleted from the game at that point.
