How often/when to ping mia

Playing mid lane, me and jungler make a kill semi-early so low kill timers. I assume everybody sees that we made a kill (bad assumption I know). My opponent goes toplane instead of coming back and ganks the pushed in toplane. He yells at me for not pinging mia. I was guessing he was buying and making his way back to mid. I normally ping if they aren't back within a minute or two but this guy must have just bolted toward top after he revived. Was I in the wrong for not pinging or just bad observation skills on toplane's part?

Always . when i say always ALWAYS ping MIA regardless of elo people MUST always have an eye on the map to be carefull but often and i put myself in this group aswell people tunnel in order to set up a wave in way to exploit or are just thinking of a play or a build path to come out on top what i mean by this people often lose awwareness by having their mind set on something else which can lead to mistakes like these. so my personal tip PING around 3 times when your lane is missing and if they die after that screw em you did your job dont even bother answering back to them. (it's a braindead thing that you should RE-ping after a while like 30 seconds afterwards so people don't relax)

No there's nothing you could've really done, if he went top lane in the time it takes to get to mid, there was no way for you to know he was going top. If there was a decent time frame that he was missing (as in he was sitting in a bush for 30 seconds waiting for an opportunity) then that would be different. It's difficult to know if your lane roams immediately after backing/dying because there are a number of reasons they wouldn't be back in lane right away... waiting gold or not sure what item to buy, taking buffs/jungle camps, setting up a ward, etc. and if you ping literally every time you don't have vision of your laner your pings will become meaningless.
