Broken Matchmaking?

Just had a Silver I bottom lose horribly to their Plat IV and Gold II opponents. No one else was ranked Silver, 2nd lowest ranked player was Gold IV and also on my team. About a week ago I had a similar experience with a Bronze player in my ranked game. Is matchmaking working as intended?

Why not check opgg before making this post? The silver 4 on your team is a new account with 41 wins and only 26L with such a high win rate it makes perfect sense for him to have gold/plat mmr while in silver.
