Voice chat on league. TL;DR

YES I know there's a LOT of toxic kids flamers etc. but I believe riot can make this work. I really hate typing in lane as ADC because I may miss some farm or in teamfights or even if I want to describe something. yes I know I can ask for skype curse voice etc. but some of the players just can't or don't have those. Riot can add voice chat resistance or bans or you can earn voice chat like you earn honor banners or more if the problem in players. I just hope they will try it at least on PBE. Communication is the key for teamwork, so why to limit? I read some forums about riot saying they'r opinion , they say we don't need it. Please don't hate i'm just writing my opinion.

You're right, communication is the key to teamwork. So why limit it with voice chat?

Here's what I mean. We've all been the 4th wheel in some game, where the other 4 are in a pre-made on voice chat. There are no pings, and the only time things get typed out are to blame you. That's what you're condemning the game to be if you provide built in voice chat. Inevitably you'll have to mute players, either because of them blaring music in the background, or because their flaming, or because you don't want to hear them swearing all the time, or whatever. Doing so cuts you off from all communication, since most people have to make a conscious effort to ping while on voice chat. Add into that the difficulty with moderating the voice chat, which would be a massive can of worms.

It's better to not have built in voice chat, and have some ideas be limited in how they come across, than to have built in voice chat and have communication drop sharply.

Same thing in normal chat and to fix it riot ban players. if riot to lazy to find them so why not to close the voice chat and give it only to normal players.

No, not the same thing with normal chat.

  • Most players using normal chat use Pings, as they're faster
  • Normal chat is easily moderated.
  • A normal chat muted teammate doesn't normally effect your teams decisions, in large part because of Pings.

I very much do not want voice chat built into this game because of the side effects I mentioned and several I didn't. You have not provided any assurances that those won't be issues.

Voice chat with friends or pre-made teams? All for that, and I'd be OK with that being built in. Voice chat with strangers I get matched with in solo queue? No thanks.

I think Voice chat would help, but as long as im able to mute, or turn it off in some way i think it would be fine.

i think the main reason why they dont want to add such a feature is that it will give more reason for people to harass one another, which means more work with reports. not only do they deal with botters/scrpiters, afk, toxic in general, but then with this they would need to go through every single match with chat and voice and read/listen through it to determine if someone should be ban/restricted. Riot isnt a big company, so they probably do not have the man power for that, let alone hire more people to deal with this!

it would probably be better to just not even make one especially since there is so many other option out there now it would probably make what ever Riot makes not worth it since they'll just use the better one!

Thanks for the feedback. I just hope they will add this someday and it won't be broken.

I'm quite happy with the current set-up honestly.

In general, pings are enough to coordinate with and direct your allies for most purposes. For more detailed plans, it's not hard to take a few seconds to type while walking from one point to another.

If you are playing with friends, then you can easily use Skype or another program to talk with one another.

I will say this though. If they decide to implement voice-chat in the game itself, they had better allow us to adjust the volume for (and mute) individual players. I don't want to suffer due to someone raging, having their microphone too loud, having a lot of background noise, etc.
