Riot, You are Destroying Your Game

The basic language, clicking, destroying turrets, leveling up abilities and using them with allies to push down the enemy's nexus... spend gold to buy items to do those things better, but with these preseason changes going through everything will be so very different from what it was six years ago. You're tearing out parts of the game and putting new ones in, and you've constantly been doing it since the beginning.

Good job. Regardless of specific mechanics, what certain subsets of players would rather remain constant... despite everything, you've made a game that appeals first and foremost to people like me, who crave new experiences. Every time the game starts to get samey, you guys do something to change all of it. It's amazing. As I'm more attached to the experiences over any mechanics or overall vision... you've really made the perfect game for me. I don't regret being a veteran player since pre-S1. It's been a fun ride. (Just never do S2 again)

The game I would say has a lot of the same design veins as League, would actually be a tabletop game. Magic: The Gathering. A recent article about that game describes it as a game that breaks its own rules. It changes constantly to provide new experiences, and at its core, that's what League does for me.

Well, you know what they say.

"Change is good." Khazix

I'd rather have a game that gives me a fresh experience every year than a memory of a game I used to play before it stagnated.

Oh... So this is not a bashing thread, lol. I was like here we go again... But yeah, new changes are quite interesting.

Saw the title, thought this would be a stream of complaints... glad I was wrong.

You know, things gotta evolve and CHANGE or else they're gonna die out. Games are no different.

As stupid as the current changes may sound, the experience of facing new things isn't at all bad. If Rito were to never change how gameplay revolves, then we will be seeing the same damn picks, same damn builds, same damn matchups, every day especially when the majority of the players follow what pros do. I'm not gonna play that, especially if it's a patch where x is permabanned and you have mained that champ for the longest time.

Is it getting more confusing? Maybe. Is the new player experience getting screwed up even more? Most definitely. But is it a fresh experience? Most definitely. That's what Riot wants.

And plus, the changes aren't too bad, since we want more botlane diversity outside Vayne/Jinx/Trist and more build options for ADCs (IE/Bork rush every day is no fun).

The problem with Riot is that they don't evolve and improve the game from where it was but instead simply migrates from 1 game to the other.

There is a reason why Riot seems to have more pissed off fans than in the case of Blizzard when WoW has been through way more changes than LoL over the past decade or so.

Meh I am just waiting for the Japanese voice pack to play around before I really call it a day.
