Revert Malzahar? *Deluxe Poll Edition*

Hi there

I've seen many a Malzahar revert/hate posts lately, and am, as a pre-rework Malzahar main/OTP, curious about the actual number behind who want him reverted, semi-reverted (Kog'Maw), reworked later vs those who don't want him touched at all (some would say, leave him to rot now...).

I'm one of those semi-revert people, if done right, as the old kit also had it's downsides - but the rework scale should have been more Annie-esque than a complete overhaul. I could go in depth behind the what, how and why, but that's for another thread - one that Riot hopefully starts one day! :p

Another thing I would really appreciate, was a Rioter actually responding to one of the many threads, about their current stance on the subject. A "no, bugger off about the subject already, it ain't happening", is better than just staying silent.

Revert him. Then he's a high tier choice for a VGU, which is what I want for him. A revert will get him to a VGU sooner

for now kog maw him

then do a proper rework in the future

i dont mind more focus on his voidlings but seriously they screwed him up in all kinds of ways

if they want him changed do it properly i'd say

his kit was mostly fine pre rework he didn't give any problems so just revert to that as much as possible

God damn, i wasn't expecting those poll results (at the current 70). I'm not gonna spoil them, to avoid introducing bias into voting, but i will say that I'm curious to see what riot's own numbers on the subject are.

I remember a poll being done in client shortly after the MYMU, which asked about if the reworked malzahar was "thematically" familiar, or something along those lines, which i felt was very much trying to bias the results via the wording of the poll. After all before and after the rework malz was still avoidling summoning, space aids spreading, eye beams of death, purple mage. So when polling i felt that such wording seems like it was chosen to actively avoid negative feedback on the rework. After all his theme stayed the same, but his feel, playing as or against, completely changed.

After seeing what happened to KogMaw, it gives hope that Riot is willing to admit to their mistakes and revert. Seeing how long Malzahar mains have been talking about this, it's clear that they really miss his old state.

Full revert because Riot is trying to turn him into a crappy version of release Syndra with voidling focus, which is not much different from managing balls to get max ult damage out.

how about: option zero - add in game the per rework malzahar and keep the post rework malzahar do the same thing with other reworks as well keep them fucking balanced ... profit

The only logic to changing Malzahar is because he counters all of their precious broken melee champions. I'd like to see those broken champions fixed first, but we'll never have that luxury so they will ruin any threat to them in ways like this.

Current Kog'Maw is not the same as S5 Kog'Maw. His items have changed, masteries have changed, meta has DRASTICALLY changed. Think about what you're asking for. People that wanted Kog'Maw reverted probably didn't play him and don't play him now. I do and it's awful.

I say full revert.

If his Press R to Win still manages to be a problem bottom lane, turn his Purple Puddle of Pain into his Ult with considerable buffs to its damage (further reinforcing his zone-control theme) and give him a medium range targeted stun nuke clocking in at ~1-1.5 seconds. For added fun, make the new W cause a Voidling to erupt out of the target chestburster-style.

I am against revert Malzahar kit. If its needed tweak him but keep it

Before he got too much dmg. Now he actually has to rely on his voidlings to do the damage for him and feels better he got better counterplay

I honestly think the rework does have promise; I had a lot of fun playing it mid for a while.

It definitely needs some tweaks, though, and the current nerfs are just way too much. I don't think he needs a total reversion, but it'd be better than keeping him crippled at least.

No one deserves to be Kog'Maw-ed...

I like him more post-rework than i do pre-rework. However i think that after the rework riot made a number of changes that then ruined him again. There was a point in time after his rework where he was personally very fun to play for me, but he got nerfed/changed a few times since then in really dumb ways (the voidling changes both this patch and earlier) that just felt bad.

Revert but keep some aspects like the mana return being % base instead of flat amount and the voildings that come out of his passive multiply when killing minions/hitting champs.

malzahar and kog were like, champions i legitimately loved and Riots destroyed both of them, and now Urgot is next.

It's hard to care sometimes
